I have been diagnosed with low Vitamin D levels in my blood and my doctor is placing me on supplements. Could this be why I am suffering excruciating knee joint pain? It feels like I have a bad case of arthritis. Mind you I am only 25 years old.

I was awakened this morning by a SHARP pain right in the middle of my chest. At the end of each breath it would stab into my sternum. No other pain, no breathing problems, no problems when i went to sleep. I went to the dr. this morning, they say...maybe its digestion problem and give me meds for heartburn. I dont think thats what it is. I dont have heartburn or any burning sensation, its a sharp pain. I took 2 asprin and the pain get duller but didnt go away. Now its 10pm and It still hurts. Any ideas?? Im only 34, no High BP, no major health problems. I am overweight. I think maybe I slept wrong??? Please help!

My friend's mom has had 5 seizure's/strokes or something of the like in the past two years. With the most recent one she passed out, and her leg was completly numb. My friend pounded on her leg very hard and she could not feel it. They ran a catscan, and an open mri, and a few other tests and could not find anything wrong, so they assume it's psychological. Can a psychological seizure make you pass out and be unresponsive and make you leg go numb because that doesn't make sense to me. She is on medicaid and I think maybe she's not getting all the tests she needs. If it is psychological, what are the most effective ways of treating that, because she and my friend have had enough of hospitals. Any help would be much appreciated. Also she will be recieving medicare soon, so hopefully that will open a few more doors.

My roommate and I both had a hernia removed when we were babies. My mother said she wouldn't have had mine done if it wasn't life threatening. I'm just curious and always wanted to know. Is it getting to be normal?

I went on a cruise to the gulf a year ago today, I had a great time but when I got back I started feeling lots of pain in my genitals. Over the year the pain progressed to different areas of my body, and now it's everywhere and overwhelming. It's been a year full of doctors visits and prescriptions, but no answers, not a single sign of any infection, no positive tests, and no relief. Although I've never had sex I'm worried that it's a STI, and I don't let myself date any longer. I need an honest opinion, Am I ever going to live another day without this? If not how can I be expected to live a life of pain and loneliness? Any suggestions on what to do would also be very helpful

I've been feeling ill a lot lately with seemingly random symptoms such as intermittent diarheora, palpitations and chest pains, numbness in my limbs and a habit of falling over (without feeling dizzy or passing out). Also my blood pressure is suddenly very low, every time it has been checked it's been too low, it never used to be. My father died 6 years ago of a rare disease called Amyloidosis, he also had low blood pressure and chest pains and i watched him die slowly and painfully over two years. I've had lots of tests including an MRI but have to wait weeks for the results, meanwhile i'm driving myself mad with what ifs, i'm a very positive person normally and tend to worry about things if and when they happen but this has got me worried as i don't know of anything else these symptons could be attributed to. If anyone does, i'd love to know to help put my mind at rest

I've been on methadone maintenance therapy for 6 years and have just recently (2/21/07) switched to suboxone with the goal of becoming drug free by June ' 07. People that have experience with this drug say that less is better and the shorter amount of time on the drug the easier it will be in getting off of it. My Dr. wants me to stay on it for a minimum of 2 yrs. and he is unable to give me a good reason why. So then, do I detox relatively quickly and get on with my life, or prolong this misery for another 2 yrs. per the Dr? Any suggestions from Sub users is greatly appreciated...but you don't have to be a Sub user to answer. Thank you.

Along with darkening, I also feel like thousands of ants running all over my face. Only after a few seconds of standing still with closed eyes, I am able to move.

This is there since my childhood. The blood test says I don't have any abnormal size of blood cells, but my RBC count equals female-values. May be I was on iron medication so the problem wouldn't show up immediately in tests. But my iron levels keep coming down after rising. I have felt most healthy and most fresh and energetic, and also free of the above symptoms, when I had the most RBC and haemoglobin count.

I also feel completely fatigued the whole day, and have light-headedness all the time. I feel colder than others.

Doctors say the RBC count has to be too low for any kind of anaemia to be present. But I want to disagree.

This situation is preventing me from building my body (LOL!), as also from numerous other tasks.

Thank you.

Does anyone know of medical studies or credible web sites that show evidence that a high protein diet is beneficial for fibro sufferers?

My friend has been on disability for fibro for several years and has recently had his high protien diet allowance revoked. He has an appeal coming up and any info in support of the benefits would be helpful.

Without the allowance he is basically going to have to live off mac and cheese and hot dogs which I am sure is going to undo all the improvement made in the last few years. (Basically from weeks of bed ridden periods to almost to the point now that he could start seeking the right job!...of course the high protien diet is combined with plenty of stretching and weight training.)
