I have been taking 1 mg of Lorazepam at night to calm down and go to sleep. I suffer from health anxiety. My doctor suggested that I take Rozeram instead and try to get off Lorazepam. I'm not sure what effect this will have on my body and since I'll probably fall asleep with the Rozeram, I won't be able to tell. I think that by quitting Lorazepam suddenly, I might get some bad withdrawal symptoms. I've been taking this med for 4 years non-stop. When I tried .5 mg, I felt horrible. Would it be dangerous to quit cold turkey and replace it with Rozeram or should I not take Rozeram and keep taking Lorazepam? Serious answers only please. I also suffer from squeezing and chocking sensations during the day - usually around my throat and chest and sometimes my stomach. I've done cardio and digestive test and none were serious. Does anyone else suffer from these symptoms and, if so, how do you deal with them. Thanks!

For the first time in my life I believe I am suffering from anxiety. My 3 year old son has had a lot of health issues lately. We've been in and out of the hosptial so much that it seems like when we go home, it's a part time visit and it's really starting to take a toll on me. My son is scheduled for a 5 hour surgery in Boston in April. ( this is his 3rd surgery) I can't sleep, my moods are like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I can't conentrate and I am always feeling depressed or helpless. When the phone rings or we have another Doctors appointment, my stomach turns into knots and I can't eat. I have a Doctors appointment coming up and I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone shed light onto what I should expect? I have never felt this way before. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Alright. My mother is 46 years old, she is a stroke survior and she also has a pretty large AVM (arterial venous malformation). She also has lung cancer that has spread to other parts of her body. The other night we had to rush her to the hospital because she all of a sudden seemed sort of "loopy" and out of it (she was smoking an unlit cigarette, she couldnt hold a cup of coffee, she wasnt able to hold liquids in her mouth). just as I dialed 911, her speech became very slurred, and while she was in the hospital she was eventually unable to speak, her pupils stayed dialated, and she seemed somewhat incoherant. the doctors got a CT scan and found a lesion in the brain (from the cancer). the doctor said that one of two things could have happened, a stroke,or some other thing. it seemed liek a three word condition, and I think it had something to do with the brain being shocked or some brain reaction.anyone know?Yesterday and today her speech was there, slurred, and she keeps drooling.

If you found out you were going to die in one month (from a disease) or you could pay for a new treatment and live for 1 more year. How much would you be willing to pay?

(A frind just found out he will pay $5000 a month for a new drug and it will probably only buy him one year more)

If you got chatting with someone new, male or female, the topic turned to kids and they said their child had ben diagnosed with ADHD what would your first thought be? ('Yeah right! Another naughty kid/bad parent' , 'another doctor trigger happy with ADHD diagnosis' 'I know about this condition, poor you' etc etc. I'm just curious as it seems many people take ADHD very lightly when it is a serious condition that takes test after test, assessment after assessment to properly diagnose. Please answer honestly with the first thing you would think.

I havd been Hypothyroid for 11 years. I was stable on a dose of 125 mcg of Synthroid for about 6 or 7 years, then my dose needed to be decreased to 112 mcg. My does of 112 mcg was stable for about 4 or 5 years, now all of the sudden I am once again in a hyperthyroid state. My TSH level was 0.01 uIU/mL, my T4 was 1.72 ng/dL, and my White Blood Cell Count was 4,100 (may/may not be related). My doctor lowered my dose to 100 mcg. I think that I was under a great deal fo stress both times when the dosages needed to be lowered. When I asked why my dose needed to be lowered my doctor said that I must be making my thyroid hormone now than I was previously. Is this possible, or could their be another answer? I am not totally satisfied with my doctor's answer.

I have pain off & on in the lower right side of my abdomen, which radiates to my back in the same area. It's not excruciating, like "take me to the hospital" kind of pain, but it is very bothersome. (I use a heating pad when it hurts.) Again, it comes and goes. I had a partial hysterectomy a couple of years ago. I still have my cervix and right ovary. Is it my appendix, or ovary? I come here to ask, because I think my Dr, will "poo poo" me.

She is seven years old. She has had this big honking wart on the bottom of her heel, which has proved to be resistant to over the counter treatment. I made an appt. with her pediatrician to have it taken off. Will she be able to walk normally without pain the following day? I don't know whether I should ask my boss for that day off or not.
