Have your mom or dad write a note. I can relate, I am and was very modest! Do they make you take it off, or just pull it up so they can look at your back as you bend over? It's an important test, done with eyes and feeling your spine, but still it's something your primary doc can do. So, let your parents know, and if they don't agree, go to a teacher or office person, and let them know your concerns. It's your body, and you shouldn't be forced to do anything.

I wish they had done a scoliosis screening at the schools I went to, maybe I wouldn't have had to have surgery. If they had caught it when I was 12, as apposed to when I was 18, I would have had more options. You shouldn't have to take off your shirt. You should just be able to lift up the back a little. And the reason they ask you to do that is so they can look for it as well as feel for it. Sometimes, like in my case, scoliosis is visible. My shoulder blades, and hips were not even. If you are totally, totally, against this, then at least get a simple chest x-ray. Scoliosis needs to be caught as early as possible, so that steps can be taken to keep it from progressing.

Have an MRI done, it's the best option or scoliosis of spine can be detected by Xray too.

You shouldn't have to, the only put a special level on the curve of your back and measure the curve. Althoght you may have to undergo a different screening than what I had.
