She is seven years old. She has had this big honking wart on the bottom of her heel, which has proved to be resistant to over the counter treatment. I made an appt. with her pediatrician to have it taken off. Will she be able to walk normally without pain the following day? I don't know whether I should ask my boss for that day off or not.

Maybe. It depends on how well she responds to pain. I had a wart removed from the ball of my foot and it hurt like crazy, but I was still able to walk on it right after. Granted, I did walk funny for the next month because I was trying not to walk on it. So I think she will probably be okay if she can walk on her toes. Is she having it lasered off or frozen off? I would recommend the lasering, because the freezing is way worse. I had warts on my hands frozen off, and I was bawling like a little baby - and they came back! Hope this helps a little!

It depends on how much pain she can handle. It would best if she stayed at home the day after. You can monitor her to make should she doesn't run a fever. It might just be a wart being removed but sometime children can come sick after the medicine given. So, yes call in for the next day. Children first.

My son had mollusca warts on his rib cage. The dermatologist froze them off because one was rather large and kept getting rubbed by his arm. Although the Dr. told us the sites would swell like water blisters, we were not prepared for the actuality of it. He looked like a leper! Huge, watery blisters, with tops that ripped open, leaving raw, red skin underneath. I had to wrap his whol torso in gauze before he could wear clothing. They took a while to heal. The large one, got infected and I could tell that it had impetigo-the dermatologist confirmed this, and he was given a topical as well as an oral antibiotic. I would say, definitely keep her home and keep the site clean, clean, clean. She will be in some discomfort. Make the day fun for her--maybe a home pedicure day with mom--just painting toenails only-no sanding of rough skin! Don't forget to sip lemonade, listen to relaxing music and just show her how the adult ladies know how to relax. Good luck! Kiss her little toesies!

of POOR thing! no offense but thats not the worst that can happen. two can turn into 100 if you do not treat it correctly. go to the dermatologist and ask for laser surgery, its the only way to ensure that the warts will not spread. ANY other method will spread the warts if her immune system is at all in disarray. so start taking tons of vitamins and build up that immune system and hopefully theyll go away on their own. trust me, dont say i did not warn you.

It's similar to having a big bruise on your foot. She should probably avoid swimming for a few days, and will favor her other foot for awhile but there is really no reason to stay home. (Get an excuse to stay out of gym class for a few days though, jumping around on it may not be fun.)
