I have pain off & on in the lower right side of my abdomen, which radiates to my back in the same area. It's not excruciating, like "take me to the hospital" kind of pain, but it is very bothersome. (I use a heating pad when it hurts.) Again, it comes and goes. I had a partial hysterectomy a couple of years ago. I still have my cervix and right ovary. Is it my appendix, or ovary? I come here to ask, because I think my Dr, will "poo poo" me.

Chronic appendicitis is documented in medical literature, but some doctors either don't believe it, or are unaware of the literature. The doctor is likely to assume the symptoms are caused by Crohn's disease, which is the most common cause of lower right, recurring abdominal pain. The problem with abdominal pains is that there are many different causes, and sometimes, the cause can't be identified. The best way to tell if this is chronic appendicitis (or ovarian cyst, or some other cause) might be to start with a CT scan when you are experiencing the symptoms. You might ask your doctor if he/she could set up a standing order for you to get a CT scan the next time the symptoms occur.
