For the first time in my life I believe I am suffering from anxiety. My 3 year old son has had a lot of health issues lately. We've been in and out of the hosptial so much that it seems like when we go home, it's a part time visit and it's really starting to take a toll on me. My son is scheduled for a 5 hour surgery in Boston in April. ( this is his 3rd surgery) I can't sleep, my moods are like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, I can't conentrate and I am always feeling depressed or helpless. When the phone rings or we have another Doctors appointment, my stomach turns into knots and I can't eat. I have a Doctors appointment coming up and I have no idea what to expect. Can anyone shed light onto what I should expect? I have never felt this way before. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

I truly feel for you. I have suffered for years. I won't bore you with my problems but give you the answer that worked for me and why I decided to take this route. I am on Wellbutrin, it is a pretty low dose Anti Anxiety/Depression drug. The wellbrutrin does not completely cure my anxiety and if I went on a stronger I would "feel better" anxiety wise. I choose to stay on Wellbutrin because there is Zero weight gain. I have tried other drugs and gained up to 20 lbs. This added depression. Now being the Anxiety attacks come and go I also take Xanax when needed. If I even feel a little anxious I take a half of 1 which is a peach and 0.5. The xanax and wellbutrin work very well together and have completely improved my life. I am on 300 Milligrams of Wellbutrin a day and xanax can be addicting so you have to be careful but this works wonders. Not gaining weight is not the only reason, stronger drugs zombie you out and have side effects. When taking Wellbutrin I am taking the edge off and then if things get bad I have the option of xanax without being on really strong drugs all the time. Good luck and please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Anxiety neurosis can be pretty debilitating. I know since I suffered and have also seen other sufferers. A few tips:

Do deep breathing and exhale the tensions.

Take B complex vitamins for the stress and anxiety.

Keep Rescue Remedy (Bach flower essence mixture) with you and take when you start feeling the anxiety or panic.

Request and receive Reiki for your son and yourself. Join the yahoo group, Reiki_Path for free Reiki and if you are up to it, free attunements.

I have felt that way during serious money problems-it's normal. The next time you see your doctor for your son, casually mention that you've been having anxiety problems due to all this and that is affecting your life. He or she may have some good advice, or a prescription, or something.

Best of wishes for you and your son!

Avoid prescriptions and medications. They don't fix anything. They only "cover up" problems and make more problems.

Exercise. Find a great place to walk and go walking. Enjoy the relaxation of the sunshine on your face and you will feel better almost immediately.

sometimes a small glass of red wine, and believe it or not an apple can have the same qualities and properties as Valium and will help relax you. If it gets really bad try blowing into a paper bag.
