1/2 teaspoon of baking soda mixed in 6 oz of water. Drink 3 to 4 glasses per day. If I feel a UTI coming on, I use this remedy for 3 to 4 days. The baking soda raises the PH level in your urine killing the bacteria that causes the infection. The burning should subside within 24 hours.
I try to avoid antibiotics whenever possible, but if you do not feel relief, it is best to see your doctor.

My cousin has a pretty severe case of this. She found a doctor that specializes in women that have this (she lives in Atlanta), and controls it with a VERY strict diet (she cannot eat anything spicy, only two kinds of fruits, and can only drink certain juices and water), and exercise. She also has a medication if the flare ups get really bad. As far as I know (at least for her case), there is no cure, you can only try to manage the symptoms. Good luck!
