Hi! This is driving me nuts! OK, I usually get sick on vacation - immune sys. shuts down and I spend half of the time buried in tissue box. This past week, no exception - started w/ sore throat xmas eve which has persisted 6 days. in b/t, have had rhinitis, sinus pain 'n congestion, cough. I've tx'd w/ lozenges, Vit C, fluids, boatloads of ibuprofen and a few tyl and/or tyl sinus here 'n there. OK, so far par for the course. Virus, cold, whatever (btw, i did have flu shot one mo ago...). YESTERDAY, I noted a slight swelling upper hard palate, ant. to vibrating line and 5mm medial to #s 2 &3. today, more swelling, lesion is maybe 3x5mm w/ a smaller 2x2 adjacent. tiss is slightly erythematous, dome-like, non-ulcerated, v tender to palp. no exudate. my differential so far: salivary? lymphatic? drainage from sinus inf?? it is quite sore and thobs a lot. Any thoughts? (flew Ohio to Bos this AM and spent week driving 'roung OH/MI....?)

I had mono two years ago, but I've been left with severe exhaustion which has only recently upgraded (or downgraded, shall I say) to one-day unexplained high fevers, terrible sore throats, and extraordinary weakness (besides the obvious fatigue, insomnia, etc, etc). Now, I have very sore, large, swollen nodules (lymph nodes) under my arms which seem to reappear whenever I feel very weak or sick. Are these symptoms of Epstein-Barr, and should I get it checked by a doctor?

Also, any suggestions as to any remedies to help lessen the severity of the symptoms?

My friend, who is 40, and lives near Houston, Tx. has been out of work for over 4 years mainly due to the fact he became legally blind. He had one eye operated on already (corneal transplant), and his vision in that one eye has improved. However, he is still legally blind in the other eye. Soon, my friend may be able to drive and work again, but that hasn't happened yet.

My friend is eager to have his sight in both eyes, rather than just one. The organization that helped him with the first surgery won't operate on the second eye. So now my friend doesn't have the funding to pay for the entire procedure.

Any useful advise (orgainzations, clinics, websites, etc.) for my friend in how to get assicstance for his much needed eye operation. Thank you.

My father refuses to go to a doctor and won't even discuss it with us. These are his symptoms...

Large Amount of Weight Loss (without trying)
Cough
Flu like symptoms that haven't gone away from months
fatuiged
Both parents died of cancer

I think that it's lung cancer, obviously I can't say for sure since he hasn't gone to a doctor. Just curious if anyboy thinks that this sounds like something familiar to them. It's very hard because he won't even open up to us about it. He hasn't seen a doctor in over 12 years.

I have been diagnosed with Lupus for about 3 years. I just came home from the doctor with the diagnosis of Mono. They did not send me home with any new meds, but wanted me to see the rhemutologist but he is on vacation until the middle of next week. I have been having chest pains and my blood pressure has been high for the passat few days. (I am 31) The doctor told me to come home and go to bed but I am bored and am thinking about going back to work in the morning. (All my employees have had mono and have been around me this week) I am tired and have a little bit of a sore throat and a bad headache. With the lupus, I am used to feeling bad and I really do not feel much worse than a nornal day in my life. Does anyone hae any good advise or knowledge to give me???

Ok so I took this medication for about 4 days. I started having stomach pains really bad...i had read the pamplet and it said abdominal pain was a side effect so i wasnt worried. The next night my appendix busted. This was horrible...... hurt something awful and had to spend time in the hospital. Does anyone think this was caused by the Celexa or was it just a fluke? Im kinda scared to start taking it again...it made me very sleepy. Im only on a 5mg dosage a day because i have a very low tolerance for any kind of meds....i just cant take em. So my doc put me on half of a 10 mg once daily. Thanks for your answers.

If I want my organ, be it an eye, a testicle or a kidney to go to a good home, should I not be selective in whom it is transplanted?

Why should some homeless guy, or some sadsack, hourly wage earner get a lifesaving organ of mine, either now, or after death, if someone who deserves it alot more can afford to OUT-Bid them all?
I had an uncle who needed a liver. He was just the biggest waste of flesh you can imagine, believe me. I was asked to take some test back in 1995 for "typing"... I said "hell no, not for this jerk"...
And he died. No loss, believe me.

@@@Why can't I have some say in who gets my eyes, my heart, my liver?

And why can't my dependants profit from this? This is American, This is Capitalism, at its purest.!

I see absolutely no need to give lifesaving organs to a drunk like my uncle Bill, or eyes to a child abuser, or my kidney to an alcoholic. Why does some third party get to decide who gets my organs?
Makes me not want to donate.

SORRY.

I was at a party the other night were a guy posed this question and stated that there is no simple answer. I then asked if there actually is a difference between the two. That too, he responded stating that there is no simple answer. So first of all, is there a difference between contagious and infectious? If so, what is the difference? Thanks.

I always have a cold like 24/7 and I really hate it. After I shower, I usually dry my hair a little but it's still kinda wet. Then I put lots of gel in my hair and I don't really blowdry it.

Can going out in cold weather with wet hair cause colds?

If I had a bowel movement with soft, somewhat fast moving stools, is this diarrhea if the bowels are still formed (just not ideally formed)? I have IBS and am worried that these daily movements are affecting my pill.
