I always have a cold like 24/7 and I really hate it. After I shower, I usually dry my hair a little but it's still kinda wet. Then I put lots of gel in my hair and I don't really blowdry it.

Can going out in cold weather with wet hair cause colds?

NO -- old wive's tale. Colds are caused by germs (viruses). If you really have cold symptoms 24/7, you may actually have allergies. You might want to get that checked out!

Ugh, this is a tough question.

Most doctors say that going outside with your hair wet does not, in fact, cause a cold. It's an old wive's tale. Remember that the common cold is caused by a virus, and logically, being outside in the cold should not magically give you a virus. We get colds from coming in contact with other people who have them.

However...there have been a few studies done (I don't have the links, sorry) that have shown a weak correlation between going outside in the cold and getting sick afterwards. Some people think the cold somehow lowers your body's resistance to the rhinovirus, but no one really knows why.

Honestly, it's probably not the hair. You should see a doctor because it's possible that you have allergies, a longlasting sinus infection, etc. It's also possible that there's something else wrong with your immune system. You should see a doctor first, and if there's nothing inherently wrong with you, you could try blow-drying your hair and see if it makes a difference. It probably won't, but you never know.

colds cant be caused by the cold! you should wash your hands regularly and keep them away from your face. drink lots of water, and try taking ZICAM (citrus tastes better than cherry).it really works.
