a syndrome is a group of signs and symptoms that categorize a disease

Medically, a syndrome is "an asociation of signs and simptoms". that is: a group of things that happen to you and that you feel that might or might not be caused by an unique disease:

PCOS is the asociation of chronic anovulation, menstrual irregularities, hirsutism (having a lot of body hair) and of course, ovarian cysts. The actual etiology (cause) of this syndrome is not well known and that's why it was originally described as a syndrome, as a group of things that is seen happening to some women.
You might or might not consdier it a disease, that won't actually change any of it, and of course, you can't pass it on anyone.

So syndrome is a group of things. A disease is a clearly established entity. Nothing to do with passing to someone else or not. I hope I helped

A syndrome is another word for a collection of symptoms. It's not necessarily a disease.

PCOS is often temporary..usually occurs in young girls who are pre-puberty or women who pre-menopause..it being temporary usually is probably why they call it a syndrome...Disease is a pathological condition of an organ, or system (ex...cirrhosis of the liver or diabetes). Diseases can result from an infection, genetic defect, or environmental stess..not usually curable but controllable.
