Can you make it taste nicer for her? For example add sugar free squash? Any alcohol free liquid will help, e.g. herbal or fruit teas. Normal tea and coffee won't hurt, although they are duiretics. In truth, if you can get liquid down her, I would not worry tto much.

I get bloated too, Evian does this to me(my father said the same about Evian). Volvic is better, Sainsbury's water is also good.perhaps experiment with different waters. AVOID falvoured waters, they're full of artificial sweeteners etc & that's worse than not drinking
Also, drink little sips often, keep a small bottle next to her & it doesn't cause bloating that way.
Pure water is best but I like rose water, egyptian willow etc which are 100% natural (middle-eastern shops sell them) but some need an acquired taste.
If all fails, natural concentrated juices (the ones that don't have additives etc) would probably better to add to water than nothing at all. Rocks do an oragnic range, Bottlegreen (esp. the lime one is very nice), & local health shops have some good ones also.

Show her that the amount she currently has is damaging her health.
If you can't do that then leave her the hell alone!
Is she healthy now?
I bet she is but you the 'caring' offspring believe all you read in the media about what is good or bad for us.
If you force her to drink more water when it makes her feel bloated and sick then YOU are responsible for damaging her health!
This recommended daily amount is an average! It is not precise.
It wasn't that long ago that alcohol was VERY bad for you and you shouldn't have any, then came the word that 'actually, alcohol isn't that bad and can be beneficial in moderate amounts!'
When will you people learn that we are a race of individuals. Everyones needs differ. YOU may need a certain amount of water, that means that you do. It means nothing about what SHE needs or what they need or what I need.
I have about 5-8 cups of coffee a day, I DON'T drink water, I am healthy to the point that I haven't had a days sickness in about 14 years. Because of my job i have to have a medical each year to prove my fitness, they have NEVER commented about my fitness or that I am dehydrated, or that my diet sucks.
If your mother is dehydrated her body will let her know she needs fluids, she will crave certain foods that contain fluids, like apples for instance.
For once in your life drop the do-good attitude and cut your mother a little slack.
NOT EVERYONE NEEDS WHAT THE GOVERNMENT SAY THEY NEED!!!

Do you remember the rule about drinking eight glasses of water a day? This was researched and it was found to be merely something someone made up. The best way to tell if her water intake is adequate is for her to check her urine. If it's a pale yellow, she's getting enough water. A doctor or nurse can also pinch her skin to see if she's dehydrated, but that isn't likely if she isn't thirsty. Not only is there NO recommended daily amount for water, excess water can raise the blood pressure and lead to fluid buildup in the lungs. If you have concerns about your mother's health, get her to a doctor. And YOU be ready to accept a qualified doctor's answer too, because he's likely to tell you to stop plaguing your mother about the water issue.

I hate drinking water, try flavouring it but use only a sugar free one.
Also keep some made up in the fridge as it tastes a whole lot better than when warm.
If she will not drink a glass try to get her to keep sipping constantly throughout the day.
Also tell her that she is at risk of becoming dehydrated and may end up having to go to hospital (which could included a stay there) this might get her to drink.

depending on whether she can excercise or not - make sure she does activities during the day whiyh make her sweat a lil as you can feel bloated if the water is not going anywhere in your body and is just sitting in you stomach. And instead of having a glass of water at a time - maybe get her to carry a water bottle around with her and just take sips every so often try and make a goal of finishing the water bottle before lunch and another by dinner. Dont expect her to be able to drink the recommended daily intake of water straight away as her body will definatly feel bloated as it wont be used to all the water but certainly up the amount of water and the excercise as then the body will be craving the water. hope this helps!

First thing is she not suffering form any kidney condition? If yes drinking of water can make her feel sick. If no try to add few drops of lemon juice (water will taste better) and give her a straw. Also it can be some kind of herbal tea, not necessary water.

I drink magnetized water. Got the coaster from Ecoflow. Oddly enough, it seems to reduce the volume of the water - makes it thinner which I know sounds mad. It is however much easier to drink and yoiu don't get the full up feeling.

I too had to increase my water intake, but I just didn't like the taste of water. So ... tea, milk, juice, soup, celery, cucumbers, fresh fruits, etc. I also did the 8oz. water in ice with 4 or 5 cherries, which slightly flavored the water but also got it into my system.
