Hi all on 2 teeth right by the gum line there is this hard white thicker coating i can't scale it off either.
It doesn't look like tartar as i thought tarter (calcius sp?) was yellow.
It doesn't look like the white patches you get from fluoride.
Any idea??? and what i can do to get rid of it.
I meant to ask my dentist when i went for cleaning 2 weeks ago.

X-ray showed that my daughter's wisdom teeth will be growing toward her 2nd molar. Dentist's advise is to have the 2nd molars removed so as to have space for the 3rd molar to grow. She said the third molar can take the place of the 2nd molar since they have more or less the same size. My daughter is still 12 years old and she's not ready for tooth extraction yet. Is it the right thing to do?

As I have said I have gingivitis (Bleeding gums)

If I had to have my teeth removed because of the bleeding gums.
And I had enough money to have implants put in (teeth) (Is that possible)

Then would the gingivitis come back and have the same problem with the new teeth?

Thank you

I had a filling done between two teeth, is it normal for the area to be sensitive to cold over a month later? At the time I got the filling done, my dentist said the area would be sensitive to cold for about a week, well its been over a month and a half since then, is this bad, does it mean I need a root canal on this tooth? Thanks

someone said: " Yah, there is a cosmetic dental procedure that can fix this. They use a special laser to raise the gum line, so less gum shows when you smile. It's relatively inexpensive and safe, ask your dentist about it. HTH : ) "

Okay. I hate my smile so much. Its so annoying. And I have superr small teeth. not my baby ones either. My mom has ir and so does my cousin, but I have it worse. I've always been self-consious about it and when I found out someone was making fun of my small teeth, and calling me "gumbo", I knew I had enough. There HAS to be a way to fix this!
I need to know if anyone has gone through this "procedure", or if there is even one and about how much it costs.

And there are 'teeth caps' or something... not sure, but Hilary Duff has them,
And if anyone knows exactly what they are called and about how much they cost,
I'd be so grateful it wouldn't be funny.
<3
thankyou.

My two-year-old has had severe chronic ear infections, and we finally got tubes put in. Before that, he was on tons of antibiotics - three 30-day courses of Septra, several 10-day courses of Omnicef, and many 10-day courses of Amoxil. His teeth are very gray, and I always assumed that this is because he's very resistant to brushing. We have had more success with brushing lately but for a long time it was a non-starter. But then someone told me it might be the antibiotics. Does anyone know if these drugs can cause gray discoloration, and if so, should I take him to the pediatric dentist?

I have extensive work done on this upper front tooth as a child and the root of this tooth is very wide. At the moment, I am getting decaying and smelly juice from this wobbly tooth. Saw my dentist today and he tried to removed it but failed. He is also worried that he may crack it if he force it out. At the same time, he told me to be prepared that my tooth may be already crack. He told me to wait for my crown to fall out and if it's just the screw, he'll be able to put it back but if not, I will have to get it extracted. I am feeling devastated as I do want to keep this front tooth of mine. Is it true that if a tooth is crack, there's no way of healing it ? If I really have to do an extraction, should I choose to have a bridge or an implant? Is there any where that I can do an x-ray that will show me if my tooth is cracked? I wonder if I should just tolerate the smelly tooth and wait for it to fall out? Please help!!!

That was 2 days ago and my gums are still hurting and swollen. She said she doesnt know what else to tell me except to floss more often. She kept digging at this one tooth and said she thought maybe it was just the natural groove of my tooth.
Finally she dug out some kind of Ultra sound wave thing and started hard core cleaning my teeth.
I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and examined.
Why are my gums still sore after the cleaning? Do some people just make a lot of plaqe.
I have great teeth. Never had one pulled, but about 13 fillings. Is it the hygeinist or should I just start going every 4 months like she reccomended for cleanings?
I brush and floss regularly. This is nuts. Now I am scared to go back again.

Do novocaine shots hurt when they stick them in your gums?

How long does it last?

I'm 26 and I have had braces for a year now and have had some problems with my teeth adjusting the way my orthodontist wants them to. He had me get my bottom front tooth extracted yesterday and they put a chain on afterwards to move my teeth and the space in quicker. I am having a lot of trouble with this because I'm self concious now, I'm so embarassed for people to notice I'm missing a tooth. This is a very big deal to me. Has anyone had this done and how long did it take for the space to close up?

I got an emergency root canal done three days ago. I had a deep cavity last week and the dentist filled it and when i went back on monday, it was infected and he did a root canal. He left the tooth open and I have another appt tomorrow. He said i would have some discomfort, but it's been three days, and the discomfort has remained the same - it's a dull, deep ache, and because it's radiating, I don't think it's from the tooth that's been worked on. I was wondering if it is normal to feel this pain 3 days after a root canal?

It is not extreme, but it is uncomfortable. Is there a way of forming an abscess after a root canal? Also, I think some food may have gotten into the open tooth, and I can't get it out, even if I brush gently. As far as the pain goes, I needed a lot of novocaine b/c the tooth was infected - i got about 8 injections. Can the ache be because of the injections? Shouldn't it have stopped hurting already if that's the cause?

So I can't just drink water all day long. Sometimes I like Iced Tea (from a Mix), sometimes Soda, and sometimes juice. I used to think that juice was the best for your mouth, but I recently found out that the citric acid is HORRIBLE for your teeth. And that Orange Juice is actually worse than Coke for your teeth.

If you are a dental professional can you tell me which of the three would be the best choice to drink, with the least damage to my teeth?

I have an appointment tomorrow to get my impressions done for my top denture. I have several questions about this process...

How long will my appointment be?

What exactly do they do during this appointment?

I asked them about how long my appointment will be, and they said if I am ontime, around 45 minutes. Is that start to finish, or what?

Thanks all!

I mainly do this involutarily at night when I am falling asleep and possibly through the night. I wake up every morning with the feeling that I have done it all night. I also do it during the day, usually out of nervousness, but not as frequently.

He put metal fillings in a bunch of my healthy teeth. I don't have proof and this happened a long time ago but I am 99% sure. I haven't had a single cavity filled before or since. I was quite nervous going into the office and he took advantage of this. I was thinking of going to him for a teeth cleaning and seeing if he tries this again. Or should I just write a review of him online somewhere?
