I have an appointment tomorrow to get my impressions done for my top denture. I have several questions about this process...

How long will my appointment be?

What exactly do they do during this appointment?

I asked them about how long my appointment will be, and they said if I am ontime, around 45 minutes. Is that start to finish, or what?

Thanks all!

If they do it right they have to find a tray that fits your mouth. Then put some goop in the tray and press it against your upper mouth and let it stiffen so it takes the shape . Then they will do one or two with softer goop. The hard stuff mis shapes your gum tissue. the soft stuff is more gentle. Then they have to make a thing like the denture and put it in your mouth and you bite against your lowers and they take measurements and trim it and stuff so you get the right bite and they find your lip line so when you talk and smile and laugh you will look the best that they can make you. They may even take an impression of your lower teeth so they can make the top teeth fit the lowers and you can chew properly. any thng less and you will have to make several trips or they aren't doing a good job.

As far as I am aware, they get this plastic stuff and take an impression of your present denture if you have one and then a impression of your mouth. It takes 5-10 mins for the putty stuff to harden. Then depending on if you need extra teeth or if it is just a case of gums shrinking, they figure out what needs to be done. After that all is sent to the dental mechanic and he makes the dentures. Few weeks later you return and have it fitted.

should be. course impressions takes less than 10 minutes. and u only bite on it a few times lets say 1 minute of biting the 9 minutes for the dentist to prepare the denture for u to bite on

The appt. shouldn't be but like 20min. you bite on some material that is put into a tray and that takes about a min to harden up. after they may take another impression and you should be done.

Depends on what process they are doing, but that sounds about right.
