I only had braces on for about 11 months. My bottom teeth is still a little crooked, yet when he left me with his assistant he said something very confusing about getting me a retainer for my bottom teeth. He also said something about tipping over. He also refered to my bottom teeth as straight which it is not.

I'm very worried that he's just gonna take my bottom braces off even if its still crooked. I think I might have to speak up & say I have a problem with that but I'm scared. People told me it might be a permanent retainer with the braces. Can anyone piece together what he meant or tell me what I should do?

I am interested in plastic surgery. I have been told to ask if the surgeon is board certified. Every surgeon I have called has said yes. I thought this was strange...so what is so special then about board certification? I then started asking this question to every kind of doctor I spoke to. Every single one said yes. I am so frustrated. What is it about having to ask the question about being board certified if everyone IS?!

I'm pretty sure I have a dry socket after having two wisdom teeth removed. I was totally fine the day after removal, even went to work. But the next day, the pain worsened and is still worsening, the only thing that helps is two advil, two tylenol and one percocet every four hours....and like clock work, when the four hours are up, I can feel it killing me again (And I Mean KILLING me). It's the weekend and the dentist office is closed however I do have my dentists home number. I really dont wanna bug him at home but I'm in so much pain! Is there really anything he'll be able to tell me over the phone? Is it worth me calling him on a weekend? Should I just wait until Monday???

I have braces, And I have only had them for two months. My orthodonist said I needed them for two years! BUT after only two months, the front top and bottom rows are completely straight when they were horrible crooked before, my left bite is perfect ,and my right bite still has gaps but is improving. My dentist said that if my teeth can move that fast in two months, he doesn't think I will need them for two years. What do you professionals, or just people who have been through this, think?

My back tooth, not my wisdon tooth but the last tooth on my bottom right jaw was taken out yesterday morning at around 8:30 am. Now it's 8 pm the next day, about 36 hours now, and I have not smoked once since then. It's been so hard, but I've heard about dry socket and I really, really don't want it.

I stayed on my painkillers all day yesterday, but didn't even need them today. It doesn't even hurt at all, and there's no puffiness in the side of my face.I've been checking my clot periodically with a little booklight, yesteday it was big and red but it's slowly gone down and now most of the extraction site is covered in a plaque film, but underneath it I can still see some really dark clot. It looks good, and it feels fine.

I've rinsed once with salt water, and that didn't hurt. My doctor said to abstain completely from smoking for 24 hours, and then after 24 hours I could resume smoking. It's been a little longer, but I'm not sure...is it all right now? There's no more pain...

I am missing my lower left second molar (#18 for you dentists). My dentist tells me the upper one will eventually fall out if I don't get an implant. Will that really happen and will it be a problem or is he trying to make some money? Will I have any other problems like bite issues too?

Both of my wisdom teeth have come in and my teeth seem to be slightly crowded and it's a little painful (nothing advil hasn't been able to help with so far). Problem is, I don't have any type of dental insurance and I can't afford it. Do I need to have them removed? I've had braces in the past and am worried the crowding is undoing the straightening from braces. Are there any dental professionals who can tell me what I should be doing, or not doing?

Hello, I need to have one of my teeth pulled on top. It is noticeable when I smile. I cant afford a bridge and a crown is not an option. My dentist said she would make a flipper for $400.00. She didn't exactly tell me how this stays in though. Is it held by glue, does anybody have any pictures of how it would look? thanks very much

I had my wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago and now have these very painful sores on the roof of my mouth. They are very far back and near the center. Every time I swallow or eat or drink it causes sharp pain. I don't know how this can heal since the mouth is always moist and I keep rubbing against the sores with the back of my tongue. Has anyone experienced this or know anything about the lenght of time for healing? My oral surgeon said they were novocaine injection burns....Help!!

Two months ago I had a very bad toothach and the dentist gave me meds to help the infection and said I need a root canal. I have no dental insurance so I have put it off. Two months later I have a large knot above that tooth. I also am having trouble breathing in my right sinus. Lately I have been experiecing pain in my ears too. I am getting very worried but i cant afford to get the root canal. I guess my question is, can I die from putting off getting it treated?

Is it possible to do a root canal and crown on a tooth that is pretty much gone? The tooth broke a while ago and since then has broken little by little. And now is really bad. You can barely see any tooth at all. Is it possible to do a root canal on a tooth like this and put a crown on?
