Im in 8th grade and although many people in my school have real braces my dad and dentist said that I could get invisalign. Does invisalign make your teeth look slimy? are they a hassle? can someone give me some info so I can decide?

Invisalign is for teens and adults. Check out the site for more info. Invisalign will cause you to speak with a lisp for a little while until you get used to talking with the piece in your mouth.
Practice will help with that.
Bonus of them mean eating without braces in the way, cleaning your teeth are easier. And you wont cut up your cheeks like with metal braces. (my little sis had to put wax on the metal since it was always cutting her mouth) But you will have to wear invisalign longer than traditional braces. It is easier, since there is no metal that you see.
I dont think your teeth look slimy with the piece in. again you'll get used to them and adjust the way you talk - you may not even be able to notice unless you are really close.
As long as you are responcible enough to not loose the piece, and remember to wear it most of the time (dont forget to wear them!). I say go for invisalign.

I don't know if you mean the braces that you can't see at all or the ones where the little dots are clear. If you are talking about braces that you can't see at all, they cost alot more than standard metal braces so more than $5,000. But, if you mean the metal braces, the ones which you can see the wires, then you'll have to see if you can get clear because not all orthodontists have clear and they might cost more money. I say go with coloured or white braces. They aren't that bad, and I personally think the coloured ones look alot better because the clear do look a bit plaquey as your cousin said. Just wait and see what colours they have when you get them. They have loads & it doesn't really matter because they change them every month. Good luck with your braces !

Dr. Albert is probably correct, although some explanation would have been helpful.

Invisalign is meant for people who have stopped growing. Also, it requires a high level of patient cooperation because the aligners can be removed at any time. If they are not worn at least 22 hours per day, treatment won't be successful. Young kids tend to lose the aligners when they take them out and put them on a napkin at McDonald's or the school lunchroom.

It will probably be your dentist or orthodontist who decides.

"real" braces really, really, really, really, really hurt, if you can use invisalign go for it!! I have an invisalign retainer and it isn't a hassle at all.
