I'm pretty sure I have a dry socket after having two wisdom teeth removed. I was totally fine the day after removal, even went to work. But the next day, the pain worsened and is still worsening, the only thing that helps is two advil, two tylenol and one percocet every four hours....and like clock work, when the four hours are up, I can feel it killing me again (And I Mean KILLING me). It's the weekend and the dentist office is closed however I do have my dentists home number. I really dont wanna bug him at home but I'm in so much pain! Is there really anything he'll be able to tell me over the phone? Is it worth me calling him on a weekend? Should I just wait until Monday???

Dry or septic sockets are not fun. They are caused by not keeping the area clean. Food gets into the wound and the bacteria, that live in your mouth, eat the food. They multiply to huge numbers. When they have eaten the food and it is gone...they then devour the blood clot in the socket. This leaves the bone exposed or "dry" and that is where the pain comes from. Whenever you have a tooth removed, eat on the other side and rinse the area with warm salt water after every meal and snack. Smoking seems to add to the problem. Now, call your dentist so he can get you on an antibiotic. See him early Monday so he can put a medication into the socket. Good Luck!

If you have enough percocet, wait until Monday. Take it as prescribed.

If you don't, call your dentist and find out what to do from there.

You are in pain, seek his advice.

Sorry to hear about your dry socket, I had it and it SUCKED. OH and if the treatment for you is the treatment I had back in 1996, you will be hating it, because you can taste the medicine whenever you swallow or eat or drink. But it healed.

i had 2 dry sockets after having my wisdom teeth removed and even pain killers didn't help.it felt like the top of my head was coming off and even the oral surgeon said that when you get a dry socket that no pain pills willl help,it has to be packed.if your in that much pain you should call him at home.

If you can irrigate the socket with salt water, that'll help start healing until you can call the dentist.
