He put metal fillings in a bunch of my healthy teeth. I don't have proof and this happened a long time ago but I am 99% sure. I haven't had a single cavity filled before or since. I was quite nervous going into the office and he took advantage of this. I was thinking of going to him for a teeth cleaning and seeing if he tries this again. Or should I just write a review of him online somewhere?

I had about four fillings when I was approx. 11 years old. My next filling was maybe 25 years later. Does that prove that my teeth were healthy and the dentist lied? Not at all.

If you have no proof, what is the real reason for this sudden distrust of his actions?

Let it go. What can you gain and what exactly do you want for compensation?

If a dentist is dishonest, they have other ways of drumming up work, usually in the dental hygiene treatments, special whiteners, coatings, sealants etc.

When I was young our dentist used to drill like he was looking for oil. Teeth always looked great brushed regularly etc. I remember the dentist showing the x-rays to me and my mother and I d be like I don t see anything... And I wasnt stupid. He d drill huge holes and fill away. When I was older at say 21 I had a different dentist tell me I had a small cavity that should be filled. I said can I see the x-ray and again it didn;t look like anything. I know I am not an expert. I say I d rather not fill it is there any other alternative. He says well we could try a flouride treatment and see if it remineralizes. Sure enough, it s been 26 years and no other dentist ever mentioned that tooth. Drill baby drill must be the solgan at the Dental Association meetings. I will never trust a dentist about my kids cavities. There is obviously an incentive to drill for dough. My son has been told he has one now. I will be going to see the x-ray myself on his filling appointment. Certainly not all but many a dentist are like used car salesman with a license to rip you and the insurance companies off. I wonder if my teeth would be white and not full of amalgam if not for the drill baby drill routine.

You were taken for a ride. These dentists, especially if he is a young and new dentist, are desperate for money; they tell patients they have many cavities. Its all a lie. He just needs money and will do anything to satisfy his unrelenting greed.
The only way you can disprove it is by getting any x rays he took before he gave you the fillings or before he gave you any of the fillings, The x rays would show the cavities. If he didnt take any x rays then your case is more difficult. If you get the x rays then go to a lawyer and another dentist. Dont tell the other dentist you are planning on suing or anything like that. Ask him to look at the x rays and give his opinion as to the status of the teeth, one by one.
If he took no x rays, its a much harder case for holding him liable for fraud and battery.
you are dealing with treacherous people when you deal with dentists. BE CAUTIOUS

Right now the only solution I see for this is to go to a different dentist and get those fillings changed. He used amalgam which is the silver looking stuff. I suggest he uses the white paste (I can't think of the name right now), the fillings are not noticeable so it doesn't look like a bunch of metal in your mouth. When a dentist tells you about fillings and cavities...make sure you see the xrays and shows you exactly where the cavities are....
Good luck with that!

Which is bothering you?
The fact that he filled your teeth?
or
the fact that he used metal fillings?
The first you cannot solve simply because you do not know whether you did indeed have cavities or not. Some decay are only apparent on x-rays. Others can be detected clinically even though you may not feel/see them.Do you have your pre-op radiographs?
As for the second, did he explain/discuss your treatment options and did you sign a consent to the agreed treatment?

JONAH,
THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE KNOWN IF YOU HAD HAD CAVITIES IS TO HAVE VISITED ANOTHER DENTIST BEFORE YOU HAD THE TEETH FILLED. AS THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN YOU ACTUALLY DON'T POSITIVELY KNOW THAT YOU DIDN'T HAVE CAVITIES. SO, BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW THIS FOR A FACT THAT YOU DIDN'T HAVE DECAY AT THE TIME THESE TEETH WERE FILLED YOU HAVE NO PROOF. YOU INDEED MAY BE LEGALLY CHARGED FOR LIABLE AND DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER.

Out of curiosity, if they were not cavaties, then what did he fill? He can't fill a tooth that doesn't have a hole in it...so...are you sure he lied? How could he have filled them, then, if you didn't have any holes (cavaties) there to fill?
