Per my first question about my front tooth being knocked loose had basically the same answer from others to "go to the dentist - now", I went and it has to be extracted - it cracked across the crown. But since I do not have dental insurance, they are charging me $195.00 for this tooth extraction. Sounds kinda pricey. Just wanted to know what others thought. Thanks!

i was wondering about silicone toothbrushes.
are they really better than normal ones, or is this just something that the dentist will tell you because silicone toothbrushes cost more????

My dentist told me today that I need to get two crowns (eeek!) They said I have a choice between a basic one and a premium one that is only made of porcelain on the outside and not a combination of metal and porcelain. Is there a huge difference or are they just trying to get me to spend more money?

I went to the dentist with nothing wrong and nothing hurting, just wanted my teeth cleaned. After x-rays they said I had six cavities....I had all teeth that were problematic fixed and filled. Three weeks later, four of the teeth the dentist worked on hurt like hell. Two of the teeth on the end hurt when I bite into something and two other teeth hurt when I drink something cold. I have since gone back to the dentist three times. Everytime he tells me the pain should go away, and he adjusts my bite. My question is threefold. Should I go to another dentist? Secondly, should i give my teeth more time to fully recover? What should I do? Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Toothpaste at the Dollar Store comes from countries where there is no flouride in the water which means the toothpaste has up to 10 times the amount U.S. manufactured toothpaste does. This has the potential to poison you if too much is swallowed. This is not a hoax. Check www.snopes.com

I had an old root canal reopened last week because that tooth was throbbing. The root canal was 15 yrs old and wasn't done right. Anyhow, it was reopened...the Doc said it would stop throbbing and hurting. Well, it isn't as bad as it was but it still slightly throbs and it is sensitive to the cold wind. What is up with that? Any Dentists out there that can advise? I am scheduled to get it finished in two weeks. She said she went all the way through so that the abcess wouldn't blow up. I'm worried. Thank you.

After a tooth has root canal treatment done to it, does it discolor in the future? If so, can a crown be placed over it to fix that problem or does the tooth have to be extracted?

i've been told by my dentist to use listerine daily. i've also been told though that listerine is bad for your mouth unless it's diluted. i've also been given a gum massager to reduce bleeding. how often should i be using that? and is it really that important or is it a ploy to make me obsessed with my teeth?

hey there, i went to the dentist this morning, had 2 fillings a went for a extraction , however, dentist was pulling tooth and its hurt like crazy so he stopped and refused to do anymore as there was a huge infection under the tooth preventing the anasectic working, i am now left with a very loose tooth that keeps bleeding on and off, is sore as u can imagine. i am taking painkillers and 400mg metronidazole 3 times a day and 500mg naproxen twice a day. how long will it take for these all to have effect and for my mouth to settle down, i have another appoiment next week to retry the extraction.

thanks for your help

My jaw would start popping when I ate or tried to open my mouth really big. Now, I can't open my mouth all the way (it hurts too bad!). Does this sound like TMJD? Would I see a dentist or my regular doctor for this? Also, any tips to ease the pain in the meantime would be great. Thanks!

do they work? (if you don't know, invisalign is the company that makes clear, retainer-like braces). i'm thinking of getting them, but i don't know how well they work. i don't want to have to get braces after i'm done!

My bottom front teeth are really aching, not sure if it could be from ice packs, teeth moving after extraction. It really hurts and is starting to get really annoying as I can't sleep and pain killers aren't stopping it. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced it and how long for and what to do about it?

I one of my wisdom teeth extracted on Friday (4 days ago) and my stitches have already dislodged. I was reading in an earlier post that it takes about a week for the stitches to disolve. Is it normal that my hole is already visible and my stitches are practically gone?? I am not in any more discomfort than i have been in the past week, and my gums are not really inflamed. Just a little swollen, but i assume that is normal.
Please let me know asap!
Thanks.
