I one of my wisdom teeth extracted on Friday (4 days ago) and my stitches have already dislodged. I was reading in an earlier post that it takes about a week for the stitches to disolve. Is it normal that my hole is already visible and my stitches are practically gone?? I am not in any more discomfort than i have been in the past week, and my gums are not really inflamed. Just a little swollen, but i assume that is normal.
Please let me know asap!
Thanks.

Don't worry about the stitches. Mouths heal very quickly. Keep the extraction site clean with GENTLE salt water rinses and removing food (if any gets into the extraction site). Smoking, and sucking (like through a straw or on Popsicles) can dislodge blood clots in the extraction site, and should be avoided while you are healing. Call your dentist or surgeon if you have pain above what ordinary OTC meds can handle. And most important...RELAX!!!...You're going to be fine. :)

I just had my wisdome teeth out on the 22nd. I remember them telling me that there may be some pain or numbness on around the bottom teeth because there's a nerve that runs through there. He said it would not last long though. But if you're still worried, I wold call your dentist and let him know what's going on or if he's not in until Tuesday then try calling an ER or a 24/7 dentist just to ask what is going on. Good luck!

Yes, you're alright. The swelling is normal after oral surgery.
