Because I tried a white doctor and got subpar care. Looks at me and thinks thug and could care less. Had a wisdom tooth pulled that got infected. He refused to give me antibiotics for one week until symptoms worsened to the point I had a problem with my hearing. I dont trust the guy at all. The unfortunate truth is people take better care of those who look like them. A cute lil white girl wouldve been treated with much more care...but a big burley brotha was treated like dirt..thus the need for an African American oral surgeon.

Why does it have to be an African American? Choosing doctors and dentists by race wouldn't always ensure the best medical care.

Are you serious? Well if you are try the yellow pages on line for an oral doctor, and hope he is black. Wow I seriously need to get a life!!

I dont see why he would need to be African American. Im sure you could ask when you call lol might not turn over so well.

Why must he be race specific? I would ask for the BEST oral surgeon in my city!

WHY NOT CONCENTRATE ON SPENDING YOUR TIME FINDING A COMPETENT DOCTOR RATHER THAN ONE WHO'S AA.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TELL HIM/HER? I CHOSE YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE AA.
WHAT IF YOU FIND ONE AND THEY ARE A LOUSY DENTIST. THEN WHAT, KEEP LOOKING FOR ONE WHO MEETS YOUR STANDARDS OF ACCEPTANCE?
