At what age did you take your children to the dentist for the first time? And, if anyone knows, how much was it without insurance?

I read that it's advised that the first visit is between 6 months and 2 years, but my dentist won't see children under 3, and the only pediatric dentist in my area doesn't take my out of state insurance.

Thanks!

it doesn't hurt and isn't bothering me. i had a crown put on a tooth close to the front of my mouth about 6 months ago so i can't afford another one. since it's almost all the way in the back i'm probably going to have it pulled. i've had just about every dental procedure there is and having a tooth pulled hurts more than anything else i've ever had done. but it's the cheapest option, based on past experience.

i guess my question is this: since i have a dental cleaning in a couple of weeks, can i just wait for the dentist to take a look at it then? and will rinsing with listerine once or twice a day help prevent any infection that might happen by waiting? Even if i called to make an appointment tomorrow i probably wouldn't be able to get in in the next 2 weeks anyway, short of it being an emergency, which it's not. Thanks for any help you can give me! : )

cheers,
Shauna!

Did it really make your teeth white? Does it last a long time? How much did it cost? My dentist is saying 600.00 dollars. Is that about fair?

They are both on the bottom molars next to the very back molars, and the spots are on the same place on both of them. They are on top of the teeth. My teeth don't hurt, and the spots showed up at exactly the same time. And I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and they didn't see any cavities. And I would also like to mention that a couple days ago I ate some chocolate covered coffee beans. But I don't see how coffee beans would stay stuck in my teeth that long. What do you think? Are they cavities or not?

If you have had this done, did your gums bleed a lot during the procedure? What was your pain like after the novacaine wore off? I am going in tomorrow for the top half of my mouth and I am VERY worried! Also, if your dentist used irrigation, was there a lof of water in you rmouth at one time?

Thanks for your encouragement and information!

Every community should have at least one dentist whose office is equipped to handle patients in electic wheelchairs who can't be4 tansferred to the regular dental chair. The entire Norfolk area doesn't have such a dentist. My son is a quad on suctioinm with rotten teeth. He has dental insurance, bu no dentist in the Norfold area can accomodate a patient in an electric chair. One that can't be transfered to the conventional denal chair without the use od a Hoya life.So hse's spent 10 years with abcesseed teeth, actute pain, and the only relief he's gotten is when he goes to the VA for his annual physical they will pull those that are aching. When about the effects of infected teeth on general health? He has dental insurance. What he needs is a dentist.

I am wondering how the dentist numbers your teeth....For example, when they say, "Pull 22 and 23" What teeth would they be pulling? I can't seem to find a chart of that numbering anywhere on the internet.....Any info would be very much appreciated....Thanks

I just got my braces put on today and they are driving me crazy. I'm not in pain (which I have a feeling I'll be in tomorrow). I already learned spaghetti gets wrapped around the braces really easily. It's already changed how my bite was, now when I bite down my teeth don't feel lined up like they were before I got them on and chewing sucks. I'm just already frustrated and it's only been like 11 hours. Then everything says don't eat this and don't eat that, brush your teeth four times a day, use the little bristle thing to clean, etc...Is it as bad and annoying as it sounds? They told me 2 1/2 years for my braces and I know it'll be worth it, but does anyone have any tips on keeping your mind off of them? And in six weeks I get the top tightened and the bottom set put on, oh joy.

Does anyone have them, and if so how do you like them? I tried Zoom technology to whiten my teeth. My teeth look great indoors, but are yellow and grey outdoors. I can tell from pictures that are taken.

My teeth are straight, and I already have big teeth. Do porcelain veneers make your teeth look bigger? Do they still appear yellow or grey in the outdoors? How long do they last? And how much do they cost? How long does it take to do the procedure? How much do they cost?

The gums on the left side of my mouth bleed very easily or they just started to, could it be because I've gotten a new toothbrush its a med. But I can't brush on the side for too long, before it starts to bleed. Should I get it checked out?

I remember a product out there that use to help kids brush teeth better. They would put it in their mouth and it would turn their teeth a certain color. When they would brush them the color would go away and let them know what they missed. Does anyone know what it was called?

I guess I noticed this a few months ago. When I bite down and then push my front teeth with my tongue, it feels like they move a little. This doesn't really happen anymore, but one of my front teeth, not one directly in the front but to the side a littl, moves sometimes when I push it with my tongue. Ever since I realized this I cant help but to push my teeth to see if they are loose. I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and he didn't say anything about my teeth being loose, and there werent any cavities or anything on any of those teeth. The teeth dont even move or barely move at all even when I push them with my finger. Now I i'm all paranoid that my teeth are going to fall out and its all I think about. Is it normal for my teeth to move like this and should I worry at all?

I just got braces and now I can't bite down on my molars because of the brackets on my bottom teeth. I have a very deep bite, which is probably why. Is this normal? Should I tell my orthodontist?
