Depending on the water being cold or warm, can it have a difference when you brush your teeth? Like if you brush your teeth using cold water they'll get clean but they won't be as clean as if you were to brush with warm water. Like washing your face. . . it's just better to use warm water. As I write this I'm thinking about how stupidthis sounds. I don't know how to put it, I hope someone gets where I'm coming from. It was just something I was thinking about because it's really late. . . and I can't sleep.

For the last few days, the left side of my jaw has been extremely painful (in a sharp muscle-ache sort of way) whenever I open my mouth beyond a centimeter or two or move my jaw forward. I feel like if I open it quickly something bad is going to happen--pop, or snap, or something.

I'm a student in finals, so I can't visit a dentist. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a toothache!!! Nay, 2 of them!!!!! One in each side of my mouth! When my wisdom teeth came in, I was so afraid of the dentist that I put off having them removed for so long that the pressure from them growing in cracked all of the molars in all 4 jaw bones. So now here I sit, 8 years later, with not one but TWO teeth that are KILLING me!!! I have tried everything...tylenol, aleve, aspirin, darvocet, cloves, anbesol, orajel, and now lidocaine patches on my face! LOL I look like a freak here! Don't laugh at me, I AM in PAIN!!! Problem... I have an appointment with my dentist Thursday, but what the frick do I do until then??? Keep in mind if you will.. I have final exams for nursing school over the course of the next 2 days. So if it will knock me out, it really isn't an option.

I was eating a the crunch chocolate, and after a second bite my right jaw made this sudden cracking sound, and I felt a pain for a moment but it only lasted for about a minute. This has happened occassionally.

I was thinking that this may relate to dental symptoms...I hadn't mentioned this the last time I went to see a dentist (which, I think, was a year ago or a little more than that).

What do you think?

I had a small piece of a back tooth break off and I'm sure I wound up swallowing it. How likely is it to cause injury? It's been a couple of days and so far I'm fine.

I'm getting all 4 teeth taken out. So far as I can tell warm liquids (ie soup and coffee / tea) are bad? Better to stick to cold liquids and foods?

Is this true? ice cream is better than soup?

tell me about the best thing and worst thing you did after you got yours out...

I wore braces for about three years. Then I got retainers. I wore them everyday for about a year, then I started wearing them every other day. After a while I wore them only and night and I eventually stopped wearing them. I noticed my teeth were starting to go crooked again, but my retainers don't exactly fit anymore. They will still go on my teeth and stay there, but just not completly. If I keep putting them on my teeth will they eventually fit again?

My daughter (21 months old) chipped her two front teeth about a year ago - infact not long after they came out. I know exactly where and when it happened. They are quite sharp so took her to the dentist to ask if anything could be done and he told me that they are "decaying" because she has a bottle at night and the only thing that can be done is to take them out (NHS). Tonight while I was brushing her teeth I noticed they are going black and I am absolutely gutted. I am prepared to pay to have them fixed - why won't my dentist help me. Also if they come out now won't she have problems in 3/4 years time when her big teeth come out. Am I making too big a deal out of this??

I've had braces on for 10 months now. Lately, my left upper molar where there is a metal bracket surrounding the whole tooth starts to hurt or the nerves start to tingle (like a sensitive tooth) whenever I drink water, or eat anything a little too warm or cold. The whole tooth feels like it's squeezing my gum and it's unbearable until the pain passes. Can anyone explain this or experience this before?

Thanks. (Serious answers please)

I have to get 2 crowns on the furthest back lower molars. Is there a difference in what they're made of? Why did these teeth start to crack in the first place? Does this happen with age? I've never had root canals ...are they painful? How long are you in the chair?

ARRGGHH....I hate going to the dentist, but I faithfully go twice a year, and all of a sudden these 2 teeth decided to break off little chunks. Thanks in advance for your help.

My daughter is 9 y/o and her teeth seem to be horrible. She brushes her teeth but I think maybe she just is not hitting them really good. I have bought the different mouth washes and tried making her swish with those after brushing but she acts like that is the worse thing. I do try and watch her sugar intake but she already has a baby tooth that has been capped in the back and now she just showed me another tooth that has a huge cavity in it causing her pain. What should I use to help turn this around?? The last time she went to the dentist about 6 months ago she had 7 cavities!!!
