They probably mean that the dentist put his foot on their chest.

Why couldn't it be true? It was how dentists pulled out teeth in the old days before pain killers. If it's a wisdom tooth the roots will go down quite a long way, which is why I'd advise having your wisdom teeth out in a dental hospital rather taking a risk.

it's not I have "come round" and found my lady dentist, kneeing on my chest, and tugging with all her might.
she did get the tooth out in the end.

i had a female dentist do that to me to remove a wisdom tooth and boy did she have to pull with all her might ! it felt like she was trying to pull face inside out ,although to her credit i felt no pain whatso-ever whilst she did this ,her assistant had to hold my forehead down with the palms of her hands too

I don't know. I've had them put their knee on the edge of the chair and they told me to pull against them in the opposite direction. No one ever climbed on top of me!

I unfortunately have had this experience, my wisdom wouldn't budge and he had to get a better position so he could pull. He nearly dislocated my frikkin jaw!!!
