Tell them to put you out. Then you wont feel a thing or go through all the motions the dentist will have your head going trying to pull them out. You will be getting some medication afterward for the pain so just take that. It is not as bad as getting a root canal. Sometimes these wisdom teeth come right out, sometimes they break and they have to drill and break them, it all depends on what direction they are pointing and how well those bastards are rooted. Good luck.

I'm a youngster, and i had my wisdom teeth removed when I was about 12-13. I was under laughing gas which pretty much did nothing. I lie down awake while they took them out and was mildly afraid. When you recover, eat a lot of jello. DON'T B SCARED. I'm not going to lie, it sucks a bit, but you should be glad you are going to be unconscious. The surgery is only in your mouth, and it is a procedure that is done thousands and thousands of times every day. Most surgeons have done it more times than can be counted on 30 hands and toes. You are probably in good hands. I had my tonsils removed which are in my throat (more risk of problems). I had them removed, its been a few years, I'm fine now, and so are many others i know who have had the surgery. You will be fine, just relax and have a nice nap while they do the surgery.

Hey, the procedure for wisdom teeth removal is painful. The worst part; however, is the days after the procedure. You may cry, or you may sleep. It all depends on the tolerance you have for pain. I would say that you probably wont cry as in boo hoo, but you may have tears from the major pains.
You definitely should NOT do drugs before your appointment. They thin your blood, and you will bleed excessively. They can also react with the solution injected into your gums as a numbing agent.
Hope this helps!

Don't worry about it. I'm getting mine out in January and I'm not afraid. I've already had 7 teeth pulled over the years and they were all painless procedures. Any pain I had was afterward but they always gave me a prescription for Vicodin after so I just took the pills right away and it was fine. It's more about feeling uncomfortable than actually suffering from pain. I have horrible anxiety that makes me afraid of the people more than the pain itself. Don't drink or do drugs before the procedure since it may backfire on you and cause more bleeding. You are going to be fine. Everyone goes through this. There's always someone out there who is more scared than you are and they make it through it.

My two sons were each around 18 and had no problem with pain or swelling. Don't listen to horror stories and old wives tales. It's like when a woman is pregnant. Other women fill them up with bad news and tales of the agonies they went through during labor and delivery.
You'll be just fine!

Chances are that they are going to give you some drugs so DON'T take your own. As for pain...you probably won't know anything till the next day as far as pain. They will also probably give you a scrip for pain killers. Just take them regularly and make sure and rinse your mouth out with antiseptic or whatever your dentist recommends until you heal up. Your cheeks may puff up, just use ice packs about 20 minutes at a time. Good luck...it'll be over before you know it.

You've nothing to worry about. Most likely you will receive a topical anesthetic followed by an injected one (the topical so you don't even feel the needle.) After that you won't feel a thing and its actually somewhat dangerous because if you're not careful and try to eat you can seriously damage your mouth by chewing it up (but you won't be eating afterward)
Then, for the discomfort in the days following the procedure, you will be prescribed pain killers.
Good luck!

Yes. Don't drink a lot the night before. Alcohol thins the blood and can make you bleed more. Just relax! If you give your dentist a call in the morning, he can probably prescribe a valium for you to take just before your visit to calm your nerves. Don't take anything on your own, since the dentist will be giving you other drugs that may react in a nasty way with them! Nothing to really be scared of nowadays, anyway! The technology is so advanced the excruciating pain is virtually a thing of the past! Just follow his rules to care for the surgical site afterwards to prevent a dry socket.....now that's painful! Good luck!

I had all four of mine pulled the same afternoon. I took a fair bit of codeine for about 36 hours following and slept a lot, but I certainly didn't cry and was back on my feet after that.
