It depends of the cavity and on the dentist you use. You'll need to check with him/her.

The range of prices Dentists charge swings from cheap to VERY expensive.
I went to a nearby dentist last week and she wanted $100!
Then I called a dentist I've been going to who is a 1/2 hr from where I live and he said he would charge me $50.
So I guess it depends on the 'neighborhood' the dentist is in (and what his rent & other expenses are).
I've even read where some dentists charge as much as $200-300 for a filling.
It also depends on the tooth that needs to be worked on. A molar is more expensive than a front tooth for instance.

But don't delay having it fixed, because if you let it get worse you may need more than a filling ... you may need root canal work, which then becomes VERY expensive.

You could try calling a local Dental College, they don't charge as much as a regular dentist. Or you can try googling, 'cheap dentist, (with the name & place/state of your town) and see what comes up.

At the Dental College I go to (trained students do the work), I think the average cost for a simple one surface filling is $30-50. My insurance covers it so it is free for me ($5 co-pay)

Depends on what surface the cavity is? is it a mesial, distal, occlusal, buccal/facial, or a lingual surface, or many of those surfaces combined?

HELLO VENNESSA,
THIS ALL DEPENDS ON THE TOOTH SURFACES TO BE FILLED AND THE MATERIAL USED FOR THE FILLING. THE WHITE MATERIAL (COMPOSITE) IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE SILVER (AMALGAM).
