I had a small piece of a back tooth break off and I'm sure I wound up swallowing it. How likely is it to cause injury? It's been a couple of days and so far I'm fine.

Don't worry. It will probably just be digested. I know someone that swallowed a full porcelain crown and there was almost nothing left of it when it did pass through. So a small piece of natural tooth will likely just be dissolved in your stomach acid. You'll be fine. =)

Swallowed, it's no problem. It'll pass on through. It can be a problem when people inhale teeth, because the lungs don't have a mechanism for getting rid of that stuff.

If it went down and you're breathing then you'll be fine. My brother swallowed a long screw once and it passed through.

You're fine. It's no problem to pass shards of bone through the human digestive system.
