So I just had a dental checkup and I had one minute cavity that didn't even hurt when he filled it (after 2 years of not seeing a dentist). I told him that it burns when I eat candy or chocolate, so he sealed four teeth.....

do I still have cavities if it hurts to eat sweets?

I was at the dentist on Friday afternoon because I'd noticed black marks in the grooves of some of my molars and I thought they were cavities. The dentist looked at them and did some x-rays, and confirmed that one is definitely a cavity, but there are several which he says he's not sure about. He says that they might just be stains in the teeth, or they might be early cavities, but he can't be sure, and he wants to drill one of them to check........is that normal? Surely he should be able to tell the difference between a cavity and a stain, and shouldn't a cavity show up on the x-rays? Should I let him drill a tooth to check??

I hear pros and cons. The pros seem to be more than the cons lately. They seem to be more natural looking and comfortable to wear after the adjustments have been made.Made of more flexible materials. I know 2 people who just got theirs and claim they love them Of course nothing is like natural providing you have strong teeth. To me it looks like more seniors are wearing them.

im 19 and my ortho suggested i have 4 premolars removed in order to create space for braces. Note that this is after i just had 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed a few weeks ago. My main concern is that gettin these 4 teeth removed would mean that i would be deprived of 6 teeth which seems like a big number. Would this effect the shape of my face as it develops???Ive read on forums about people complaining that theyre face tends to develop to be longer and thinner after gettin teeth removed. Would this affect me?? At what age does the human skull and jaw stop developing??

I am 11 and 12 in may and i still suck my thumb. My friends don't know that i do it and i want to tell them, to be honest but i'm afraid that they will not be friends with me anymore and that everyone will bully me. I have tried putting nail varnish on it but in the end i can't stand it and i wipe it off. My family want me to stop but i can't. My teeth are a bit pushed out but not that bad so that the dentist has really said anything about it. I'm also worried about my actual thumb because its got a bump there so i'm scared of letting people see it!!! Can any of you help me please!! P.S I can't do that hypnotise (however its spelt) thing because its too expensive and that so please help!!!

This annoys me. I brush my teeth 3 times a day. Floss 1-2 times a day. My friend brushes only 1-2 times a day and doesn't floss. Yet, he has whiter teeth. Whats up with this?

I had a root canal on OCT 23, 06. If I tap on it or bite down too hard, I still have some sensitivity. It doesn't feel like a throbbing tooth ache...just like it is sensitive. Well, the tooth right next to it had a root canal over 9 years ago and it feels the same when you tap on it. What I thought was an abcess my dentist and RDA friend are saying is just the bone under the gum...although on the side of the root canal it is larger than on the other side of the mouth. If it matters, it's the upper right #4...and it had 1 canal. My question is, is it normal this long after a root canal to have sensitivity to tapping or biting? I appreciate your help....Happy Holidays!

Ok, silly question.
When I bite chocolate with my back teeth, they get very sensitive and start to hurt a lot.
I've found that this doesn't happen EVERY time but around 75% of the time, it will.
My teeth could get brushed a bit more often and I was using toothpaste for sensitive teeth for a while but that didn't work.

I was eating a chocolate biscuit today and I found that it happened even when I bit down using my front teeth!
I wish it didn't happen to such a good treat =D
What type of toothpaste could I use to make it go away?
What can I do to get the pain to go away while eating chocolate?

If you have had implants such as a full mouth would you care to share the costs? I just heard of them and I am in the middle of getting regular old dentures and was thinking about checking into it for myself.
