Don't have a cat but I do have a dog. I use non-alcoholic mouthwash.................It prevents gingivitis..plaque....tarter.. bad breath You know all the things that we humans get. I even use peroxide on occasion.
PS I use this instead of toothpaste for dog

Get paste specially made for cats at your vet. The other answer is right - human toothpaste is bad for them.

Never use toothpaste that is not made especially for cats. Regular "people" toothpaste is toxic to cats and could kill them.

i'm specific that there is specific toothpaste for that. verify at PetSmart of PetCo. Your community veterinarian could sell it too. this is important which you sparkling the cats tooth. Your vet would desire to have the flexibility to do it for $15-$30.

Since cats can't gargle like us humans, it's best to use water.
