Very often dental infections travel the path of least resistance out the end of the root of the tooth and begin to drain out the side of the gums above the infected tooth. The nerve of your tooth has most likely died for any number of reasons, and is now draining. You should get this checked out as soon as possible, but it is not a reason to go to the emergency room. It's less dangerous than a swelling since the bacteria have a path of drainage into your mouth. See a dentist ASAP, but it is most likely a long-standing problem. You will most likely need to have a root canal or have the tooth extracted. Best of luck.

Pimple On Gums

Hi there.
I like the Dentist's answer...but it could be something superficial called a fistula. A fistula is a pimple like bump that resembles a pimple. When squeezed' puss will come out of it..it would be thick and clear. These are common when a lot of acidic food has been eaten. They are normal and will go away after you lower the amount of acidic foods you eat. (Oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, spaghetti sauce)
However, if the bump you are describing is directly above 1 tooth, is painful and the drainage tastes horrible, is a thick green discharge and drains on it's own, then I would believe that it is an abscess and you should see your dentist immediately.
Good luck and take care.

Hi. I agree with Slapshot. Your tooth is infected and is now draining through the bump on your gum, which IS called a "fistula". It's pretty much a path from your infected root to the outside of your gum since the infection pressure built up and had no where to go. You will likely need antibiotics to control the infection, then either an extraction or root canal.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

Depending on the exact location of the "pimple", it is either an abscess of endodintic origin or it is a periodontal abscess. Either way, i would go to the dentist immediately. You have an infection and need either a root canal or some periodontal tratment/ drainage. Good luck!
