My husband and I have dental insurance, but they still want the rest of the money upfront and we are totally broke. No dentist that I have called is willing to work with me on a payment plan. They all tell me to apply for a Care Card (Medical credit card). We can't get a credit card...tried. We recently lost a baby girl and had to pay for a funeral and I don't know what else to do. Dentists always say how important it is to get in, but they aren't willing to work with people that can't afford to pay. To interested in their house payments and sports cars to care about anyone else.

Teeth brushing has beome a nightmare - a battle between parent and child. Son says he hates the taste of the tooth paste - I've tried several different flavors. I send him back repeatedly after brushings to "do a better job" which of course infuriates him. Still,he just doesn't do a thorough enough job. I have worked with him as best as I can - he says I'm treating him like a baby - to teach him proper technique. I'm worried about his teeth and the money it may cost me later on! But, I'm also worried he's going to turn off his friends with bad breath. Any suggestions?

Has anyone experienced having extensions added to your lower jaw to help pull your jaw forward so your mouth will close properly and your bite be corrected? I have an underbite. My bottom jaw didn't grow to its full size. I want to have cosmetic exstensions added? Can you tell me about your experience, what it detailed and how much did it hurt of course. Thank you!

During my last cleaning my gums were bleeding a lot. Is it true that the more tartar you have stuck on your teeth the harder the dentist needs to scrape and that's what causes more bleeding? I know that evryone bleeds a little but what can I do to make my next cleaning less bloody and more comfortable?

I love my husband but he has bad breath most of the time. I notice when he brushes he bleeds which indicates gingivites. I have told him he should go to the dentist and check it out but he is scared of them and I even offered to go with him. It's to the point I don't like to kiss him because of his foul breath. What more can I suggest?

I have had tmj for 10 plus years now and I always have pain associated with this but occasionally the pain becomes so intense that it affects my job, my social life and pretty much everything I do. You would think that having this so long that I would know how to handle the pain but things that used to help don't help anymore. I have tried just about every pain killer out there besides morphine. Splints don't help, the only time I don't have pain is while I'm sleeping but as soon as I wake up it starts all over again. I really just need a temporary pain relief as I have just been accepted to a TMJ research study with the College of Oriental Medicine, but I'm in excrusiating pain, does anyone have any suggestions that may relieve some of this pain?
