My husband and I have dental insurance, but they still want the rest of the money upfront and we are totally broke. No dentist that I have called is willing to work with me on a payment plan. They all tell me to apply for a Care Card (Medical credit card). We can't get a credit card...tried. We recently lost a baby girl and had to pay for a funeral and I don't know what else to do. Dentists always say how important it is to get in, but they aren't willing to work with people that can't afford to pay. To interested in their house payments and sports cars to care about anyone else.

Yes, Care credit is what I meant. My husband and I coudn't qualify for it. He was on welfare when he had to quit work to take care of his first wife when she was bed-ridden with cancer soo his credit was totally shot, and since getting married it has ruined my credit too.

I would check with any local dental schools. They can usually reduce your total cost and make payment plans. Often it's up to the student.

Wow, what a bad position to be in. I'm sorry for you and for the loss of your baby girl. How very sad.

When you've talked to Dentists, have you spoken to the actual dentist or his office staff? For some reason, and I've seen it happen A LOT, these clerical people tend to think THEY are the important one.

I would suggest making an appointmet with a dentist. When you are back in the room with him explain your situation. If he/she is any kind of a human being with half a heart....after seeing your teeth and knowing the pain you must be in....he/she might be willing to work with you on payments.

A friend of mine was in your same situation and that is what I convinced her to do. The dentist not only set her up on a payment plan but reduced the actual surgery costs.

Talk to some of your friends and see if they have a long standing relationship with a dentist and maybe they can help persuade the doctor into accepting you.

Another option would be going to a hospital ER. I don't know if they still do it, but know they used to...for people who couldn't afford it, they would do the surgery in the hospital and went on your health insurance. Which usually covers more than dental and allows you to make payments.

Check in your area and surrounding areas. There are many cities, that once or twice a year, the dentists volunteer their services for free. Another option would be to go to your church or any church, explain to the pastor and ask for charitable help. If you feel funny about asking, make a promise to repay the church.

There is truly nothing worse than a toothache and wisdom teeth are the absolute worst! I hope you find a solution and are able to have your wisdom teeth removed.

My condolences to you!

Alot of dentists want money up front even if you have insurance b/c there have been numerous cases where a claim is filed... the insurance check is sent to the patient and not the office and... the patient keeps the check and doesn't pay the dentist.

Are you sure they are talking about medicaid? There is a company called Care Credit that helps people in these kind of predicaments. This company pays the dentist up front. Then you make monthly payments to the company with no interest.( The dentist pays that) In your case you would wait for your insurance check and send it to Care Credit. Then everyone is happy and you are not in pain anymore.

Most people qualify for Care Credit (even less than perfect credit). This company was created for situations like yours... among others...

Visit www.carecredit.com and see what you can come up with!

I hope I helped! Good luck!

You might want to do a little reseach on free clinics in your area. You can also look for urgent care type places that will bill you according to your monthly income and tax bracket. In the mean time, stock up on oragel and hang in there. My teeth are just growing in and the gum pain can be a *****. The health care system in this country is totally f^cked. So sorry to hear about your daughter. I don't know what you are going through, but I wish you the best in this trying time.

Call social services and see if they can help with you fincial situation, if they can help in anyway and save you money then maybe you could put enough down to make one or two more payments on the rest of it. The other thing you could do is take a personal loan out with a low interest rate. Good Luck

Look up Affordable Dentures on the internet. They do extractions and are alot cheaper than most dentist. Sorry to hear about your baby girl.

Unfortunately it is expensive but it's one of those things you have to have done. I had to have my impacted wisdom teeth extracted this year and it was very expensive and very unpleasant. The problem is though, you have no choice because the impacted wisdom tooth is probably pushing against your molars and if you leave it too long then you'll have to have them removed too as they will start to decay.
