No, 12 is an excellent year to get braces most people only need them for 2-3 years so you can have them off by 14-15 years old. The reason why most people say you need to repeat the process is beacuse they didn't use their etainer as directed. The retainer is what keeps the teeth straight once the braces come off. If you wear braces and use the retainer properly you should have perfect straight teeth for a lifetime.

I would say the orthodontist should be the best judge of whether it is appropriate at that age to start. I started them at age 10 and had them on and off until age 16. I often didn't have all of them on at the same time. At one point I had 4 on the top. I moved twice between those ages so that may have had something do with the differences . I also had an underbite so they wanted to make sure my teeth were exactly the way they wanted them and I wouldn't grow much more before they fixed that problem. Every case is different, but if you wear the retainer and listen to the orthodontist 12 doesn't sound too young.

I got my braces on when I was 9...the only way you would have to repeat the process all over is if you don't wear your retainer and your teeth return to their original state. 12 is a good age for them, both my brothers got them at 12. I think that whoever told you that it was a bad age doesn't know what their talking about. Really you should be going by what the orthodontist recommends anyway.

There is no correct age for braces. It depends totally on the child. Some really need early intervention to guide growth and development to minimize the need for future treatment and sometimes this needs to start at age 5 or 6. Others have good arch shapes, but a few minor rotations here and there that could stand some corrections and this might wait until the child is in their teens. Your dentist will have to answer this question. §

You get braces on when the time is appropriate as determined by the orthodontist. My daughter had hers on by 10 and off by 12. My son, on the other hand, just got his on at the age of 15.

I had my braces taken OFF when I was 12. I had them pretty young, and I was VERY glad to have it over with. But if you do it when you're young, you NEED to wear the retainers after they are removed or the teeth will shift back. Also, I had to have my wisdom teeth removed before they actually came in to prevent them from causing misalignment in the newly arranged teeth. Keep all that in mind, but I'd go for it.

I started the process when I was 12 or 13. They can do quite a bit to get started, However, the completion would be until all the baby teeth are gone. My dr. said the early you start the better.
