I love my husband but he has bad breath most of the time. I notice when he brushes he bleeds which indicates gingivites. I have told him he should go to the dentist and check it out but he is scared of them and I even offered to go with him. It's to the point I don't like to kiss him because of his foul breath. What more can I suggest?

Tell him that yes there's a good reason to be scared of the dentist but it's way worth it (trust me, my experience) and that he'll be very happy with the results!!

Absolutely, you have to tell him, especially if you love him. Other people notice too, believe me. Just simply tell him - honey - you have really bad breath, I am noticing that since a while but now it has gotten to a serious point.

Besides Gingivitis there could be a whole host of reasons, like for example constipation (-> then change his diet to more veggies, fruit and meat only once a weak) or problems with the tonsils...
but you may be right and the gums are the source of the odor.

Depending on how old your husband is, whether he is a smoker or not and how progressed the issue is. Here is what he could try.
Get a disinfecting mouthwash (like Listerine) and dental floss, waxed floss for beginners.
Have him floss regularly, in the beginning perhaps only every two or three days if his bleeding is really strong. After the floss mouthwash really well with the disinfecting stuff.
Then have him floss every day with the mouthwash. It will hurt - but this only is a sign that it works.
And in addition he should do the mouthwash 2-3 times a day.

If his problem is too progressed he may not be able to floss and then he really should seek a dentists help who could help him heal the problem.

And if this does not bring some change within a few days, a week then he should see a doctor to check that out.

Really - if you love him then help him to address and solve the problem. I never understand why people who say they are in love can not address difficult topics with each other. Especially then it is important.

why dont you make a dentist appointment for you and him both ( make it a family affair if you have children.) Dont ask him just be like i need you to meet me here at this time on this day, the whole family is going and you have nothing to worry about. just a check up and a cleaning should solve his "bad breath" problem. Maybe he is scared but if you do it as a family then he wouldnt have anything to be scared of.

My honest opinion, would be to just be honest with him. If it smells that bad, there could be plenty of problems inside the mouth and corrective action needs to be taken as soon as possible. I'm sure that if you got him into a good dentist who is experienced at painless dentistry then he will be more likely to see a dentist. It may even give him a push in the right direction knowing that its becoming hard for you to feel attracted to him.

Good luck and remember, its in his best interest if you tell him,

You are married to him so I think you two should be able to talk about those type of things. I would bring up the dentist again and tell him that his bleeding gums and halitosis worry you rather than just saying his breath stinks.

Yes..you should let him know. Bad breath could be an indicator of other health problems in the body. And, poor oral hygiene could lead to heart problems as well as cause secondary infections in other parts of the body. You care about him, so show him how much by helping him get healthier.

Bleeding gums is a sign of gingivitis. Another sign is persistent bad braeth. He needs to brush better, floss daily, and use mouthwash 2x a day. Even more important he needs to see a dentist.

You should tell him his breath be kickin' & he needs to fix it. I once knew a guy that had bad breath & he found out that the last time he had work done by the dentist they had accidentally left some gauze in which was causing the stench.

Lead a horse, but can't make him.... Samething. Tell him one final time, buy all the products at the store to help him--the before brush stuff and after. Buy lots of apples, they are natural teeth cleaners when eaten raw. Then just quit kissing him. If he doesn't start to change consider if you truely want to stay married to him.
