Ok, first they take the bands [the band has a buccal tube on it so when you get the rubber bands for over bite, you can attach them to it, but that'll be later on way after you get the braces and they'll show you how to put them on] which go on the last four teeth, they use a glue that is like cement [so they'll stay for as long as you need] to keep them tightened on the back teeth. One back tooth per side, top & bottom.
After they glue on the brackets to each seperate tooth they then put an archwire on which sticks to the brackets. Any extra wire on the sides is chopped off.
Then, the rest of the teeth get brackets put on the front of them.
Afterwards you pick out a color of rubber bands, they place them on each individual bracket. Sometimes, they use a chain "string" of rubber bands, which are tighter and help move the teeth quicker.
Each month you have a visit where they sometimes switch the wire [but not always] and always switch the colored rubberbands. That is how they will tighten and make changes, if need be.
When taking of braces, they use a dental instrument to pull everything off. It hurts a bit, but is worth it. Then, they scrape off all that dried up glue from when you got everything glued on, then you brush, then they scrape some more, polish, and take mold for your retainer.

They take the brackets and put cement on them and dry your tooth and stick it on, and they dry it with a laser, heat light. The way the tighten them is the wire they connect the brackets with, they pull it tighter. I am not quite sure how they get them off though.
