As early as possible: there are even brightly colored Crayola floss picks with safety handles for very young children. As soon as there are two or more teeth beside each other, plaque can form between them and flossing early from as young as a few years old (with supervision) will form habits that last a lifetime.

A person should begin flossing as soon as teeth no longer have open contacts (as soon as teeth touch adjacent teeth). Some parents need to floss their toddlers, other don't have to floss until permanent teeth erupt. Brushing will clean the chewing surfaces, tongue side, & cheek side of the teeth, but unfortunately if there is a contact the only way to disrupt the plaque is by flossing. Flossing is the single most important method of plaque removal for contact areas. Floss the teeth you want to keep.

a person should start flossing once they have their teeth in, probably BY 5 years of age, but not before when a baby is teething. you should not floss when you have had oral surgery or when your gums are sore, because then you can get infections on your gums.
for younger ages, use the floss on a stick so they don't swallow the regular. most people switch to reg. floss when they get older, but some people continue with the 'floss on a stick' routine because it is much easier.

As soon as you get all your teeth like age 2. The sooner you make flossing a habit the better off you are.

They should start flossing as soon as they have a mouthfull of teeth. The sooner they learn to take care of their teeth the better. The parents will have to do it for them but eventually they will learn.
