I have this little hard lump, its white and looks like bone, appearing in my lower gum, under my tongue, its very painful if i touch it in any way. Any ideas what it might be and what treatment i might need to obtain?

the lumps you are talking about are called Tori its bone that is on the lower mouth .Most people have them on both sides but you can have it on just one side. It is nothing to worry about unless you see changes or it starts to hurt.alot of people hurt them when there eating and even when you brush your teeth if you hit it with the tooth brush.That really hurts.You also want to make sure you take care of your teeth so you wont need a denture or a partial for the lower because with the tori its hard to make and sometimes you have to have surgery to remove them first.I hope this helps. i have worked in a dental office for 15 yrs Make sure you check with a Dentist just to make sure its nothing more

If it is behind your eye teeth (incisors), it could be a small bone growth. I have one on either side, of different sizes; my dentist told me years ago that it was just a bone growth with no need for concern, as they hadn't gotten any larger in years.
If this is something which has developed recently, or which is getting larger, you should definately see a dentist.

If it has always been there, it could be a calcium deposit that got bruised recently. I have three of those in my mouth that developed instead of wisdom teeth. Your best bet is to see a dentist to make sure that you are okay, as if it is infected you will probably need an antibiotic.

it could have something to do with your saliva ducts and it may well be a small stone of calculus..see a dentist asap

i'd always ask my G.P. first. Then, if advised bite the bullet and go to the dentist.
