I have to go to the dentist pretty soon and I haven't been in years and I'm sure at least three of my teeth have cavities in them - they hurt when I eat sweets and drink cold water.

I've never had any fillings or anything before and I'm really scared about it, but I feel pretty stupid because I'm 16 years old. My brother says it hurts quite a lot, but I don't know if he's just trying to scare me! (I hope he is)

What exacly happens when you get a filling? And how long does it take?

I have a crossbite/underbite thing going on and I have quite a few gaps in my teeth due to gum surgery. I am getting braces put on tomorrow. Wil braces "magically" make all types of situations (even mine) a lot better?

Are all these things normal to have with starting braces?:
-*THE WORST* Is Swallowing weird like puckering my lips and sucking spit back to swallow which is becoming a habit hard ot forget about
-Having to much saliva in mouth especially around the braces
-Getting raw cheek and sores in mouth
-Getting food constanly stuck everywhere in your mouth between your braces
-Making your lips look a little fatter when your mouths closed and weirder looking when you talk
-Talking weird with certain words and sounds like the words with F's and S's syllabels which makes me angry at itme because i want to talk like i use to and not sound weird and struggle as much

All of these things areh appening to me them sot annoying are the speech and swallowing. Has this happened to any of you guys who have or had braces? If so how long does it last for? Feedback plz...
I HATE THESE F*IN THINGS IN MY MOUTH!!! (and i still have a year nad a half to go :(((((((

My gum where my right wisdom tooth is swollen. Anyone know what might be the cause? It hurts when I chew my food on the right side of my mouth. It started yesterday.

I am 55 and have almost all of my teeth, but not all of them are straight or pearly-white. Still, the set of chompers I have serves me pretty well when tearing into turkey legs and triple-whoppers or crushing chocolate malted milk balls or fish heads. I have no pain in any of them as a general rule, but admittedly do not go to the dentist enough or floss enough since, as Dick Cheny might say, I have "other priorities." The problem is, the bottom front teeth, four or five of 'em I think, are stained badly brown from below the gum line in places to almost the top of the teeth (bite your upper lip with the bottom teeth, and the top part of the teeth would be what is left white if you are still confused, hayseed).

Now as most people know, I am also VERY frugal with my hard-earned cash and always looking for free professional advice, so what causes this? Any idea? The stains are relatively new..I think. I don't peek in my mouth that often, and none of many gals I smooch complain. Whassu

Ok im a mid teenager and i just got braces put on like a week ago. But ive been noticing the past two days that im swallowing wierd with my tongue, almsot like a tongue thrust. I open my bite slighty i actually pull back my toungue instead of pushing it to grab the spit im sucking back then i swallow normal. like im sucking all the spit from the out side of my mouth, the Front teeth region where mybraces are to my tongue and swallow. I swallow normal without my tongue toching my teeth but its when beofre im swallowing my tongue thursts a little bit to get the spit. Also when i do this im puckering my lips ALOT like inward sucking motion but inside your mouth with oyur lips closed. Is this becasue of my braces or is this a problem to be concerned aobut. Ive never had a tongue thrusting problem before so why is this weird tongue thing happening now with braces? I cant stop this 2 day habit, i swallow so much, and ive noticed my S's and Z's sounds when i speak sound different adn weird.

I've been having problems with my wisdom teeth for some time and over the weekend I have developed a bad infection along with a very swollen face. I'm going to ask my dentist if I can have them removed. I was just wondering if anyone has had theirs out after having problems with them and what it was like? I'm a bit scared but I think I've had enough of all the infections and having to be on a liquid diet when they are bad!

A friend of mine refuses to go to a dentist or doctor for this, so I'm asking if this is serious and he needs to see a professional.

His gums have been red lately, and sometimes swollen. It also bleeds when he brushes his teeth.

I think this may be gum disease but I really have no idea. He brushes everyday but he doesn't floss often or ever see his dentist.

First off, I have braces. I've had them for 7 months. I had a deep cavity in my back tooth, and I just got a filling 5 days ago. Now the gum tissue on the outer part hurts when pressure is added. There's no swelling or anything, just mild pain from where he put the needle. Also, I just noticed that the tooth acts a little loose. Like how my teeth act when my braces get tightened. Should I be alarmed, or is this just part of the healing process?
