I have a crossbite/underbite thing going on and I have quite a few gaps in my teeth due to gum surgery. I am getting braces put on tomorrow. Wil braces "magically" make all types of situations (even mine) a lot better?

Braces will make most situations a lot better. Not magically though and not without pain. The changes are not instant, but they do happen quickly. Be prepared for some pain, but know that the pain is well worth it. The orthodontist should have already told you what to expect for your results.

If you are getting the braces on tomorrow, go to the store today and get some jello and puddings, along with apple sauce and yogurt. Soft foods that you will not have to chew. Ice cream might be too cold at first (at least it was for me)

The first few days your mouth is going to hurt. Take some ibuprofen or motrin. It does not take the pain away but makes it more manageable. The first few weeks that I had the braces on, had they not been firmly attached, I am certain I would have pulled them off, they hurt so bad, but now, a year later, i know that it is worth it.

Every time they adjust the buggers, there is going to be some pain, but it gets more tolerable as time goes on. Also, when you get into the rubber bands, there will be a different type of pain. Again, it becomes tolerable. Just have the ibuprofen handy. good luck

Yes they do but not by magic or overnight. You have to put in the effort to clean, floss and not to break your brackets. If you need to wear rubber bands do it faithfully and listen to your Orthodontist. It will be painful at times, but it is worth it. I had braces when I was in Orthodontic school and mine look beautiful.
