Flossing is an equally, if not more important, home-care measure to keep dental plaque at bay and prevent it from building up to an extent that causes harm to teeth and gums in form of gum disease and dental decay (cavities).
Floss is ribbon-like. It has the capability of making plaque and food particles stick to it, following which they are dislodged from those surfaces of teeth which are otherwise inaccessible to tooth-brush (=30% of total tooth area!!).
Floss maybe waxed or unwaxed ..... which one is better is is a matter of personal choice. They might be flavored (e.g., mint). It is easier to use a floss with a floss-holder. The method of using a dental floss if mention on its packing, generally.
Flossing ALL your teeth once at bed-time is recommended by dentists the World over. It complements tooth-brushing and using a flouridated, antiseptic mouth-wash.
Flossing is not effective for cleaning the teeth which have open spaces between them ( These teeth call for miniature brushes called interproximal brushes). On the other hand, they are very effective to cleanse teeth which are in direct contact with each other, and even those which might be overlapping

flossing is to make use of the floss to clean the two surfaces of teeth facing each other in the alignment of teeth. many mistake flossing as cleaning of the gap inbetween ur teeth. but in actual fact u shuld b using it to clean the surfaces ( interproximal surfaces) which ur toothbrush cannot reach. toothbrush can only clean the outer surfaces but not the inter spaces. so u need to take abt 45 cm of floss n twirl most of it on one of ur middle finger n a little on the opp hand middle finger. leave abt 3 cm of floss inbtw the fingers n use ur index fingers n thumb to guide the floss. slowly saw the floss inbetween ur teeth. dont snap it in as it would cut ur gums. slowly slide down the floss in sawing motion till u go slightly below ur gums. form a c on one side of the tooth n move it up n down to clean the plaque on that surface. then form a c on the other side n do the same n take out the floss. now the floss would b dirty with plaque, so roll it on the little floss u had rolled onto ur middle finger, release clean bit n move on to the next tooth. this procedure shuld b done for all teeth n flossin shuld b done once every day. this can help in prevention of gum disease n decay on the interproximal surfaces which is the sides of the tooth.

Wellllllll go to the store. Buy dental floss (its in a little box...or should be). Open up the top (it looks like string). Pull on it and cut it with the little "floss cutter". Then put the string between the crack between two of your teeth and pull it in all directions. Hope this helps lol
