I am 55 and have almost all of my teeth, but not all of them are straight or pearly-white. Still, the set of chompers I have serves me pretty well when tearing into turkey legs and triple-whoppers or crushing chocolate malted milk balls or fish heads. I have no pain in any of them as a general rule, but admittedly do not go to the dentist enough or floss enough since, as Dick Cheny might say, I have "other priorities." The problem is, the bottom front teeth, four or five of 'em I think, are stained badly brown from below the gum line in places to almost the top of the teeth (bite your upper lip with the bottom teeth, and the top part of the teeth would be what is left white if you are still confused, hayseed).

Now as most people know, I am also VERY frugal with my hard-earned cash and always looking for free professional advice, so what causes this? Any idea? The stains are relatively new..I think. I don't peek in my mouth that often, and none of many gals I smooch complain. Whassu

These sorts of stains are usually caused by drinking tea or coffee or from smoking. Some foods can cause staining but this is not as common.

If you were smooching with me I would complain lol. As a matter of fact I probably wouldn't kiss you. Sorry. But you need to see a dentist. Could be coffee stains... Do you smoke ? I mean it can be a few things. See a dentist and stop being uptight with your cash. You know you can get diseases from your mouth in the rest of your body.

You have answered your own question, Mr. Arrogant. You not visit the dentist, don't take care of your teeth and then ask the world what the hay?

I was going to suggest cleaning strips, but you will obviously think they are a waste of your hard earned money.

I believe this is due to them being exposed to air more often and the bacteria on them needing cleaned more often. If you think about it bacteria need air, and a good climate, well food, or drink particles, (sugars) on your teeth which are already older and not as enameled as when you were younger due to other things like soda and acids in food begin to attack your teeth, you might just need to work on lessening soda, and coffee and brush more often.

Tarter and plaque build up. Flossing helps keep it to a minimum, but a good cleaning should take care of it. Smoking, and drinking coffee or dark sodas add to the problem.

Coffee, tea, and cigaretts. Berries do this too.

Anything that stains your clothes stains your teeth. Drink milk and use Crest expressions whitening toothpaste. It should do some good.

I hope you realise how low you've stooped - you're getting dentistry advice off a Brit. I suggest you go to the dentist, get them cleaned and then start keeping them clean yourself. Get an electric toothbrush and pack in smoking.

Because when you eat, the lower teeth are more envloved in the chewing process than the upper ones. Nothing wrong with your teeth, Hint: gravity.

It is called brushing. You put the toothpaste on the toothbrush & then you put the toothbrush in your mouth & then you brush the toothbrush against your teeth. It is as easy as that. If you need anymore advice Just let me know
