My daughter has been having intermittent hyperglycemic episodes over the past 4 months. She is 4 and small (not overweight). The doctor did a fasting insulin test and a glucose tolerance test. She actually did well on the gtt--80 fasting and 82 after 2 hours.

HOWEVER, she has had over 7 postprandial bg numbers over 200 at home in the past 2 weeks. She always comes back down on her own eventually. Her high blood glucose really appears to come and go. Some days good and other days she can go really high.

Her fasting insulin, however, was 1.4, and that seems very low to me. The nurse said normal was 1.7 to 22 and online it indicates that 5-20 is typical. The doctor said that only high numbers matter and a high number would indicate insulin resistance. Since it was low and out of the normal range he was unconcerned. Is it true that the low level means nothing? Even in light of her erratically high blood glucose numbers? Wouldn't low insulin also be an indication of a problem?

I am a single mom of a 3 year old and I love to work out. The problem is my son refuses to stay in the daycare at the gym, and every time I take him there they call me on the loud speaker to come get him because he wants to leave so bad. My boyfriend is able to watch him twice a week so I can go to the gym but that's it. I love my time at the gym, and I am not motivated to work out at home. Is only 2 days at the gym enough if I am doing at least 30-35 minutes of cardio, and about 20 minutes of weight training? Or is this a waste of time? Will I ever see results?

whenever i lay down my thighs start tingling and then go numb - really numb! this also is a new thing and started at least 6 months ago. it happens only when i lay down. However, when I walk my left leg hurts after a while - up and down but mainly on the outside of my thigh but the pain radiates up and down. It gets so bad that my kids have to pick up my leg and put it in the car if we are out somewhere.

this happens when i get up from bed. when i am asleep and get up to go the bathroom in the middle of the night or rise up in the morning my entire body aches. the aches will come on anytime i've been lying still for at least 15 minutes. the longer i lay the worse the aches so of course by morning i am dying and it takes a bit before the aches go away. this is a new thing for me - it started maybe almost a year ago now but at the rate i'm going i feel that in a few years my kids may have to help me out of bed. can anyone tell me what the hell is going on???

I'm going to have a tummy tuck done in a couple of weeks. I've seen several before and after pictures and I feel satisfied that I want to have this done. I am 5' 9" and weigh 131 pounds, but I have a roll of skin on my abdomen from having had three babies via c-section.

Is there anyone out there who has had a tummy tuck and can e-mail me regarding questions that I have. Because of privacy, my doctor would not give me the names or numbers of anyone that I could talk to or ask questions of.

basically, I want to know if you're glad you had it done? What did it cost? How long were you off work? Pain level? Scarring? Weight/inches lost? Stuff like that.

Anyone out there?

I woke up with my ear hurting, and I figure I'll just take some medicine for now and if it doesn't get better I'll go see my M.D.

What over-the-counter medicines work best for an ear ache?

I read somewhere that if you took hydrogen peroxide orally that it would make your body more oxygen rich so that bacteria (bad) wouldnt flourish as much.
