whenever i lay down my thighs start tingling and then go numb - really numb! this also is a new thing and started at least 6 months ago. it happens only when i lay down. However, when I walk my left leg hurts after a while - up and down but mainly on the outside of my thigh but the pain radiates up and down. It gets so bad that my kids have to pick up my leg and put it in the car if we are out somewhere.

It's nerve damage. You could have some back problems causing them to go to sleep when you lay down. If you are diebetic it could be related. Go see your doctor and while you are there have the doctor check your blood sugar.

You don’t have to get worried about it. It could be because there is not enough blood circulation due to perhaps disuse atrophy or perhaps due to the fact that part of your body was at rest for two or three hours. You can find good home remedies for this. I did find some at http://ailments.in/peripheralneuropathy.html
