Yes, it's probably okay to stop the Paxil, but you should probably call your Dr. to make sure.

Yes, you probably could stop it easily, but the question is whether you want to right aways. A combination of welbutrin and paxil might just be the perfect combination for you. Welbutrin is a mild stimulant and will give you more energy to counteract the fatigue people get while taking paxil. I often take a combination of 150 mg of welbutrin and another SSRI. I find the small dose of welbutrin added really helps and gives me energy to go for walks.

That is really a question that should only be answered by your doctor. Even though a pharmacist may be able to give a general answer, he or she will most likely not be able to give a specific answer to you since it may depend on medical history and just knowing you as a patient. So please call your doctor, and ask him or her about medication and dosages to take.

P.S. Wellbutrin made me so incredibly dizzy when I tried it that I had to stop it about the next day. Just a word to the wise for anyone considering starting that medication. It doesn't necessarily mean that everyone can get that horrible side effect as you seem thankfully ok with it. It also made me more quick to anger and probably due to it working on the neurotransmitter, norepinephrine (and it also works on serotonin).

If your slowly decreasing your paxil, and starting wellbutrin, then you should stay on your paxil until your doctor told you to discontinue it. If you feel you want to stop it sooner talk to your doctor.

Be sure to ask your doctor. These drugs affect the chemicals in your brain. If you stop abruptly, it can have adverse effects, like anxiety attacks, etc.

....you must ask your doctor...you should never stop taking an anti-depressant without doc's orders....why are you taking both at the same time, anyway...don't get me wrong...i take 2 different ones, too...elavil, and zoloft....but, they are used for two separate things...the zoloft is the antidepression, but the elavil is used to help me with nighttime pain, and sleep...

peace, tammy

u could get worse. i think u should talk to the doc about this.welbutrin works great but not on it's own. all depression meds ride on other meds . if it is working for u then leave things alone.
