I too have experienced an ectopic pregnancy, ironically on the right side as well. I had to have an 8 inch incision with staples to remove it and only a portion of my fallopian tube was removed. However I opted to begin the depo provera injection because at that time I was going through a nasty divorce and wasn't ready for any more children. My obstetrician advised me that when I chose to become pregnant again, I would have to be monitored closely (because of scar tissue and history of ectopic pregnancy) however I should be able to conceive normally. I remarried years later and stopped the depo. 2 months later I became pregnant and had a healthy full term baby with no ill effects. That was over 3 years ago. I say if you are planning on children speak to your doc first so he can monitor you . The chances of having another ectopic are high but with careful observation you should be able to conceive normally. I know I did.

I had an ectopic pregnancy back in 2005. I had had the Mirena put in and only after a month, it perforated my uterus and floated into my stomach cavity.
One night I started having severe pains in my stomach. It was so bad I could not move, I thought it might have been food poisoning, so I didn't really think much of it. But then the pains starting getting alot worse.
My husband talked me into going to the hospital. They did the blood work and then told me I was pregnant and miscarrying.
I went to my doctor who done some xrays. He told me that I had a tubal pregnancy, I was bleeding internally, and that the IUD was in my stomach cavity.
I had surgery the next morning. THey had to cut out the baby, they had to close up my uterus, and they had to fish for the IUD.
I have not been able to conceive successfully since then. I may not be able to have another child. But that does not mean you will not be able to. The risk of you having another ectopic pregnancy rises with each one, but if you have not had any other complications, then you should be able to carry a child with out any problems.
If you find out that you are pregnant, get to the doctor as soon as possible. If it turns out to be another ectopic, they may be able to flush it into your uterus and the baby will be fine.
Good luck!!!

hi sorry to hear that.I had an etopic pregnancy 4 years ago.The doctor didn;t know thought i had a normal pregnancy......until one day i was bleeding crazy all over and blood pressure drop.I was rushed to the hospital where i had emergency surgery. My tube ruptured.I lost my right tube. The doctors told me i could not get pregnant because the rupture damaged my left.If your other tube is fine you should be able to have a baby with one tube...thats all you need.I hope everything goes well

I'm a nurse and try not to worry. Most women usually get pregnant soon after. I hope this helps you and don't give up, soon enough you will be holding your precious bundle of joy, take care and all the best.
