I believe it is slower. A fit person works out the heart and is therefore stronger than an unfit person's heart. Their heart has a stronger pump, so it needs to do fewer pumps per minute. I remember discussing this in biology in high school. A guy on the baseball team had 44 bpm, while a normal person had in the 70s I think it was.

It's slower usually on a fit person especially an endurance type athelete. The heart isstronger and don't have to beat as often to circulate the blood.

Physically fit people have a lower heart rate.

Because it takes less to move the blood around their bodies.
