I have been a runner my whole life and have recently moved up to 6-8 miles a day.
However I have been having some problems lately with my knee because of the increased mileage. I'm not hurt yet, but I decided to try the elliptical machine instead.

I was just wondering what is the comparison between an elliptical and treadmill? I have went on the elliptical for 35 minutes at level 25..and have definitely gotten my heart rate up! The calories burned say almost more than when I run.. so I'm wondering if those are very accurate or if there was a knowledgable website that would let me know the comparison between ellipticals and actual running.

My aunt was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis yesterday and is on a vent in the local icu. We had a family gathering about 17 days ago. Should I be worried about her being contaigious? At that time she just had a sinus/ear infecton. The Dr. is giving her a 50/50 chance of survival. And how long will it be before we will know if she's out of immediate danger?

ok, seeing a doctor is out of the question, my husband doesn't have coverage, so keep your comments to yourself. thanks. I need to know how to make my husbands ear feel better. any homemade ideas? I've been told to use oil drops but I don't know what kind of oil to use. Can I use just normal canola oil, or should I just go out and buy a certain brand? He doesn't have a fever and he's been taking pain killers all day but doesn't seem to be working. any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Ok, for health we are learning about decision making, now everyone gets a problem and you have to thing of three alternative answers and make a chart of if the alternatives are healthy. I want to have a really unique, smart answer. Here's the problem I got:
Joe's best friend's dad is going to give Joe a ride home from the football game Friday night. Joe's friend's dad, shows up wasted (drunk, hammered, ect.).
Now I want some really creative answers to what Joe can do as an alternative. I already thought of the obvious:
Say no and call someone else, ask someone else for a ride, walk home, ect. Now, I really want to think of something creative to say. Something that not everyone else in the class will think of. does anyone have any suggestions?
*I already thought of hitch-hiking, but that didnt go over with the teacher too well.

she is disabled and just moved into her section 8 apartment she does not drive any more when she recives her monthly check and needs to go to her bank to cash and get her bus fare how can she get to the bank. when she doesnt have the fare for the bus yet. she is disabled and cant walk that far to the bank. i dont live near her what should i tell her. thanks

I can't say no...just in case?
My mom likes to have control of things, but she is a great person. I love her so much and worry all the time about something bad happening to her. As result, I can never say no to her even if I want to because I fear if I do, she will die and I will regret it for the rest of my life. Does anyone else do this?

I am 21 and I just recently had my baby tooth removed because my adult tooth was growing behind it so I has to now be pulled forward to fill in the gap from my baby tooth. I took my brothers favorite pencil... well one of his macanical pencils and I wouldn't give it back. When he when to the bathroom I snock it in my pants... but not very far! But when he came out I asked him if he wanted it... and he oviously said yes... then I pretended to search for it in my pants and it was hilarious... He said "I dont want that..." Plus I get to have a new machaniacl pencil! It worked splended!
