I was reading about sleeping disorders (somehow) and narcolepsy, and I ended up reading about hypnagogia and automatic behaviour. from what I have read I think I might be experiencing these. Examples are talking in sleep, with no recollection, having vivid dreams while being awake (i.e. being half asleep), having these vivid dreams, half asleep, yet people being involved in them (i.e. like you are dreaming but you can hear a person talking to you, and there actually is a person talking), suddenly moving, like a sharp kick of the leg, feeling like you are falling, (these last three occur in falling asleep, with the 2nd and thirs sometimes while completely asleep). These occurances don't happen like every night, but one or two happen each week. Also, is it normal for dreams to seem like reality, as in you were there, and you cannot tell if something actually happened or not. Could anybody explain any of teh points I have raised??

My 74 year old dad has been suffering from it since he was about 70. I don't think my grandparents had it as far as I know. Could it be because he always drank a lot? I hope to enjoy my old age until I keel over. My grandparent's generation of our family mostly lived to 86 or older.

Okay just a quick question for any doctors or people clued up on the body.

The right hand side of my neck is in agony and it is swollen. I find swallowing anything at all quite painful. The pain spreads from my adams apple to my ear. Anyone know what it could be?

I have a doctors appointment on wednesday.

Thanks

My ex dumped me for a younger girl (I'm 32 , he's 31 and she's 20)... so now I am having 'age' issues. Everyone I know tells me I'm crazy. I'm fit, healthy, look like I'm 25 and take really good care of myself... but he's made me feel like a worthless old woman. What is my problem? Do other women feel like this, too? Please give me some tips to get over this? thanks...

what is the best all round workout dvd you have tried.
i'm talking about toning, weight loss and without a good deal of boredom or repetativeness....

i've had to quit my gym membership, but I really like the guidance of classes. I will only have time to do a workout at home in my house when I start my new job.

I'm open to anything (i already have the Tae-Bo Billy Blancks DVD).
p.s has anyone tried the Davina McCall one?

Alright, I know this has been posted before, but I need some help too.
I feel almost positive that I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I constantly worry and feel scared all day long. When I go to sleep, I wake up automatically at 6 and I have to self-talk myself until I calm down because its really bad in the morning (anxiety). It's mostl affecting my relationship with my boyfriend (I am a female) but this is where more anxiety comes in. I ask myself if I have fallen out of love and if I don't want to be with my boyfriend anymore. But, I know I love him, and I want to do just that again. We've been together for almost 2 and a half years, I don't want this to hurt our relationship. I also worry about getting a horrible illness, or loosing people close to me, I constantly reassure myself, and I find myself grumpy when that isn't really me at all. Anyone think this is generalized anxiety disorder? I don't want to break up with my boyfriend. I'm scared thats what it comes down to. Help

I think I have very long legs and a short torso, just taking a little poll. If you are 5'10 or 5'11, what length of pants do you wear?

I'm very underweight, 16 year old male, 5'6", and only 105 pounds. I was thinking of taking a protein supplement to gain weight. From what I've seen posted, protein becomes fat if you don't work out, and since I'm underweight, I figure my body could use the fat. I would work out while using it but I just don't have the time right now. I was wondering if this would actually help me gain weight and, if so, is there any specific type of supplement that I should use? I'd be very thankful if you could point me in the right direction.

I have for as long as I can remember, shivered in short-sharp blasts (those associated with the phrase 'someone walked over your grave').
This appears to be a common phenomenon, affecting most people at some point. However, I seem to do this all the damn time, to the extent that my flat mates have labelled me with tourettes (which, apparently also involves involuntary twitches and not just amusing slanderous outbursts).
I refuse to accept this diagnosis however, and so set about attempting to discover the true cause for my twitch.
So far I have come across the myoclonous jerk and the hypnogogic jerk. The former seems to be associated withh various serious disorders, so I doubt it's that! the second, as far as i understand, is a side-effect of the mental transition between lucidity and dreaming.
Well, in my case, it doesn't seem to be related to fatigue and I'm reasonably convinced that I don't have MS or epilepsy as this has been ongoing my entire life.
So, why do I twitch??
