I was reading about sleeping disorders (somehow) and narcolepsy, and I ended up reading about hypnagogia and automatic behaviour. from what I have read I think I might be experiencing these. Examples are talking in sleep, with no recollection, having vivid dreams while being awake (i.e. being half asleep), having these vivid dreams, half asleep, yet people being involved in them (i.e. like you are dreaming but you can hear a person talking to you, and there actually is a person talking), suddenly moving, like a sharp kick of the leg, feeling like you are falling, (these last three occur in falling asleep, with the 2nd and thirs sometimes while completely asleep). These occurances don't happen like every night, but one or two happen each week. Also, is it normal for dreams to seem like reality, as in you were there, and you cannot tell if something actually happened or not. Could anybody explain any of teh points I have raised??

It becomes more difficult for a person to differentiate between what happened during sleep and what happened while awake, as the result of being sleep deprived. The latest expert opinion in the newspapers is that people with less than 9 hours of sleep are sleep deprived. Most of your symptoms sound like sleep deprivation. The sleep-walking tends to indicate that you are bothered by something.

I think you're probably more self-aware than the average person. If I were you, I'd make an appointment with my family physician tomorrow, and see if you can go to a sleep disorders clinic that can make a diagnosis and suggest treatment options for you.

There are sleep anaylsts that film you as you sleep while you are hooked up to some machines. You should see one of them, explain what is going on and have things checked out. They may know exactly what's happening and can tell you what to do about it.

It's better to ask a Dr. about it. If you do self diagnosis you do the same thing the students studying to be doctors do... you could have a billion things when all you have is none.

I could answer this question better, if I knew whether you are on any medication. Some medications have sleep disorders as side-effects. Others have them as adverse-reactions. An adverse-reaction can kill you.

it can be a number of things and there are sevrael types and sometimes there is no reason and cannot be acsertained,your problem could be just one type study the websites and there are plenty of instructions which may pertain to you if not see your gp
