. . . the typical rural Chinese diet is flexitarian.

"Unlike the meat-heavy plates featured in many Chinese restaurants in the U.S., the traditional Chinese diet consists mainly of plant foods, small amounts of fish and poultry, and only occasionally red meat, says Campbell, the director of the Cornell-China-Oxford Project on Nutrition, Health, and Environment, a long-term study comparing the diets of rural China with average American ones. He has been tracking the eating habits of people living in 100 Chinese rural villages since the early 1980s.

According to Campbell's research, the traditional Chinese diet is comprised of only 20% animal foods -- far less than the amount in the typical American diet. As a result, the Chinese diet contains a formidable team of disease-fighting antioxidants and plant-based nutrients called phytochemicals -- all of which contribute to a healthier way of eating.

They are seasoned with pepercorns...asparagus..pepers(red,yellow)..squash...and those long sweet green beans(bean pods?..IDK) ANYWAY...should I eat them with just plain noodles with a bit of oil...should I them with noodles and fettachini(sp) sauce....or what. What is the best way to eat them. I'm making a meal here...I'm not going to eat them alone. How would you eat them? IDEAS for me anyone? If you have a better idea of how to eat them by all means tell me. All ideas welcome. Please hurry it's just about dinner time. lol.

It's been going on since he was a baby, he's always hated meat. Then we found out he was allergic to nuts, AND legumes (peas, beans etc).
I want to get some protein into this boy but I don't want his diet to consist of bologna and MacDonalds cheeseburgers (the only meat he'll eat. Hot dogs he hates too). Does anyone know of a protein source, natural food (no adult protein bars), that could supply the missing nutrients found in meat? (Without nuts)

and crackers and tortillas. But I would really like to find something in which I could wrap up my sprouts and chicken and cucumbers. Is there anything like this? Maybe made out of seaweed? (Please don't tell me I can have carbohydrates if I only eat a little - believe me, I know what will send my blood sugar sailing.)

From a Pink Floyd song. Can this be interpreted as on overbearing parent speaking to a vegetarian or vegan child of there's or do you think it's just a parent saying they can't have a treat until they finish their supper?

I know what Rennet and Gelatin/Gelatine are made from, but I am confused about labels that just say Culture, Live Culture, Enzyme, or Starter. Are these 4 ingredients animal products also?
As an example I found a vegetarian cheese that states: non-animal rennet, but it has Culture in it?
I would like to know what these things actually are. Also what other terminology should I look out for?

I have not eaten any meat or fish [including gelatin and ramen noodles and any type of thing that MIGHT contain or have touched meat] since february 15 so about 9 months...i am thinking of taking a break for one day and just be pescetarian [eating fish but no other meat]...by making doing this, would it be seriously breaking the vow to be a vegetarian or to many do this every few months or so?

i have been a vegetarian for 4 months now. And well I was hiding it from my carnivorous father. He finally found out tonight when i would not eat turkey he was dangling in front of my face. Now he thinks i am miss informed and following the trends. Which is bull. But in order for him to even THINK about supporting me, i have to write a stupid ESSAY/REPORT to support my decision. Where the hell do i start? Errrrrrh.

BTW i am 17 so its not like i am a 12 year old. i can make my own decisions.

Thank you!

I am a little bit of a picky eater, and I'm getting sick of living off peanut butter, milk and cheese. I don't like tofu, or beans. I've never tried lentils, but I doubt I would like them (if they taste anything like onions, yuck) Please, I'm desperate for ideas. (The higher in protein, the better)

thanks! :)

I'm supposed to have surgery sometime in the future, (about a year or so from now) and I was told by a family member that being a vegetarian could hinder surgery as it could affect my blood and thus the healing process. Does anyone know if this holds true?

Has anyone heard about what happened in Athens before the Olympics? (In case you haven't, the people there poisoned all the street cats and dogs to "clean up" before the olympics came). Does anyone know if this is happening in China before the olympics in Beijing?
