From a Pink Floyd song. Can this be interpreted as on overbearing parent speaking to a vegetarian or vegan child of there's or do you think it's just a parent saying they can't have a treat until they finish their supper?

J.R.---LOL A friend of mine used to sing Glycerine by Bush.."Don't let those dagos by" instead of "Don't let the days go by" and the classic CCR song Bad Moon Rising "There's the bathroom on the right".

JR: No ducks and caverns in the classroom?
Veganomicon: I swear the first time I read that I thought you said you laughed so hard when you read it that you farted.
ME: Oh, brother! You are quite the character, aren't you?
That part of the song always made me think of a blood or kidney pudding anyway (blech). And it is definitely an authority at, like, a boarding school saying that. Either way, it portrays the person screaming for the poor kid to eat meat as a big bully.

Thanks for a good laugh this morning, Frosty Me! I read the headline of the question and laughed out loud in my office (you almost got me caught farting around on the net). Anyway, in this case it is a teacher or administrator of some sort in an english boarding-type school telling kids that they must finish everything they have been given if they expect dessert.

EDIT: For me, there's no such thing as a no farting zone.

Good song....

I think in the song it's an authority at the school saying it, not a parent... isn't it? Either way I think it's just gotta do with not getting a treat until they eat their meal.

I just remember as seniors in high school us kids singing that song in front of our principal. If I recall properly, it was the last day of school for seniors. He thought it was funny. I think it may have been the only time he smiled for four years!

Is this one of those "dark sarcasms in the classroom"?

Oh well, I guess that "all in all we're just another brick in the wall".

::edit::
Ducks and caverns in the classroom. lol

I actually had to look that up to see what the lyrics really were. You had me for a minute.

Reminds me of the song "Tiny Dancer". My brother thought the words were "hold me closer, Tony Danza". Haha. I've never let him live that one down.

As a parent I think this is a parent telling their kid that they can't have their dessert if they don't finish their meal. I know my daughter tries to pull that all the time!

Teacher, leave us kids ALONE!

I think the meat for the kids is like the Kool Aid for those people in Texas...

I think that it means that you can't just slaughter an animal for its blood to make black pudding. You need to at least eat the meat as well.

You're reading too much into this. Eat your dinner or you don't get dessert.
